OUR VALUES IN ACTION ● Care and Compassion ● Quality and Teamwork ● Dignity and Respect ● Openness, honesty and responsibility Applications are invited for two Permanent Band 6 Charge Nurses in the Emergency Department at Borders General Hospital, 2 x 34.5 hour posts. This role is working within a small team of other Band 6 Charge Nurses and the Senior Charge Nurse. Experience in Emergency Nursing is essential, with 5 years post registration experience and a minimum of 3 years experience in an Emergency Department both essential. The role involves supporting and developing Band 5 and HCSW in the Department and deputising for the Senior Charge Nurse when she is unavailable. The Department is a Trauma Unit and also receives all speciality groups, including Paediatrics. This is a busy, fast paced environment with an unpredictable work load so being able to adapt at fast pace is vital. The Department receives anything from 80 to over 100 patients per day, roughly 30,000 attendees per year. There is a requirement to work both nights and days and weekends. This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff. This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours. However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period, for which you would be paid, until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week.
