We are looking for a registered Nurse who is compassionate, accountable and has extensive experience and skills to support staff in our oncology ward. The oncology ward cares for patients with solid tumours and haematological disorders and has a dedicated bed for those patients requiring inpatient Radioactive iodine, throughout all stages. We are looking for a Registered Nurse who is motivated, passionate, and willing to support the ward manager in leading a team of nurses with varying levels of ward experience. In your role, you will provide the ward with leadership and expertise in caring for cancer patients who are admitted for SACT or SACT complications or progression of their cancer diagnoses. You can lead and support the ward manager and the MDT team within a haematology and/or oncology unit setting in providing the appropriate care for this group of patients. Provide clinical and professional leadership and support in the absence of the ward manager. To deputise for the ward/department manager in his/her absence and take a lead on delegated responsibilities as defined by the ward manager. Ensure clinical practice on the ward is evidence-based and monitor the safety and quality of care for cancer patients. Responsible for supporting the ward manager for the coordination and supervision of staff practice and taking responsibility for the education and development of staff, including ensuring mandatory training and appraisal compliance. Support the ward manager in implementing policies and practices within the oncology clinical area. Work flexibly to meet the needs of the service through internal rotation. Undertake night duty and provide cover across the working week, including a minimum of 4 shifts per month in addition to covering weekends to support the administration of patients receiving chemotherapy and radiotherapy treatment across several tumour groups. The post is based on Podium ward 1; however, there may be opportunities to explore a rotation position within cancer services. About Us

Responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of high standards of personalized nursing care for service users and their families. As part of managerial and clinical development, under supervision, take charge of the team/ward whilst undertaking a variable shift pattern as directed by the ward manager or matron. Perform clinical practice within the oncology inpatient clinical area to ensure high-quality, current evidence-based care underpins all actions and interactions with patients. Work in a complex and stressful environment demonstrating effective and appropriate coping strategies and promptly responding to problems, including identifying and implementing solutions. Use up-to-date knowledge and evidence to assess, plan, deliver, and evaluate care, communicate findings, influence change, and promote health and best practice. Management of oncological emergencies including neutropenic sepsis, MSCC, pneumonitis, chemotherapy toxicities, and other related complications of SACT treatment/cancer diagnoses.
