As a Charity Support Worker/Religious Worker with a primary responsibility for collecting and distributing surplus food to the homeless and needy families, your role is crucial in addressing food insecurity and providing essential sustenance to those in need.

Responsibilities

Collaborate with local businesses, supermarkets, and food suppliers to collect surplus food donations.

Organize and coordinate the logistics of food collection, ensuring timely and efficient retrieval.

Conduct quality checks on donated food items, ensuring they meet safety and hygiene standards.

Sort and categorize food items for efficient distribution, taking into account nutritional value and dietary preferences.

Work closely with community centres, shelters, and local charities to identify the needs of homeless individuals and needy families.

Plan and organize food distribution schedules to maximize impact and reach those most in need.

Establish positive relationships with local community members, shelters, and support organizations.

Raise awareness about the charity's initiatives, encouraging community involvement and support.

Recruit and train volunteers to assist in food collection, sorting, and distribution activities.

Provide clear instructions and guidelines to volunteers, ensuring a smooth and organized operation.

Maintain accurate records of food donations, including quantities, types of items, and expiration dates.

Generate regular reports for internal and external stakeholders to track the impact of the food distribution program.

Stay informed about relevant health and safety guidelines to ensure a secure environment for both workers and recipients.

Collaborate with local government agencies, charities, and food banks to enhance the overall effectiveness of food distribution efforts.

Adhere to safety protocols and regulations during food handling and distribution.

Qualifications and Skills:

Proven experience in support work, or a related field.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Empathy, sensitivity, and a non-judgmental approach to diverse challenges.

Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
