We discover the tools which plants have evolved to synthesise bioactive small molecules and then redeploy them to synthesise new-to-nature small molecule drugs. This is an exciting opportunity to join our growing and ambitious team as a natural product chemist. The candidate

will lead the purification and structural characterisation of promising small molecules from plant extracts. They will collaborate with others as part of the biosynthetic-production pipeline. This will involve the use of techniques on a range of scales, from preparative to analytical. The candidate will be required to develop and optimize the purification process to purify mg-scale quantities of compounds for further testing, working with other laboratory-based scientists along with informaticians. Responsibilities

Extracting and purifying small molecules from complex plant material Optimising purification pipelines and methods Collaborate with the wider scientific team to deliver projects Minimum Requirements

PhD in Chemistry or a related field Experience using analytical techniques, such as LC-MS, HPLC, and NMR Ability to utilise preparative and semi-preparative HPLC to purify targets Strong problem-solving skills Ability to work independently and develop ideas Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team Excellent presentation and communication skills Experience using metabolomics to analyse and identify target compounds Experience purifying compounds from plant extracts Experience purifying targets with low starting concentrations Enquiries and Applications to
