An opening is available for a six-month secondment as the Chief Engineer - Services to cover shared parental leave. As a Chief Engineer, your role is vital to the successful delivery of customer projects at the NCC. Reporting to the Senior Chief Engineer for Net Zero, you will be accountable for the technical governance and delivery of customer research projects and establish industrial partnerships to boost the impact of the NCC. You’ll demonstrate strong technical leadership, using your skills and experience to support the Services group and ensure internal capability development is on track to help industry meet current and future challenges. In addition, you’ll contribute to the Services Strategy across both Adoption and Innovation and Incubation services and work alongside the services technical team to implement and provide governance of HICOP procedure for SME projects. So, what are we looking for? A role model leader who can lead by example, ensuring technical quality across the services portfolio. Passion for solving engineering challenges and customer interaction. Strong knowledge and understanding of current and future NCC capabilities. A proven track record leading technical projects. What experience would be useful? Experience of technical leadership within a research organisation, with broad engineering experience across a variety of sectors. An ability to forge technical and professional relationships with industry stakeholders. A desire to create and contribute to a culture of innovation and a collaborative approach to delivering engineering research programme outcomes. A track record of strong engineering leadership, of delivering through others in a matrix organisation and of developing high performing teams.
