We are currently recruiting for our Float Pool which provides coverage for our UK Operations. Full time, permanent positions are available on a 1 or 2 week rotation, with travel and accommodation (if required) covered. We also have port based positions if you live within commutable distance of Southampton and Felixstowe. Your Responsibilities:
As a Chief Engineer at SVITZER, you will be the backbone of our vessel operations. Your key responsibilities will include: Operational Excellence: Ensure all machinery on board is in top condition and operate it during vessel operations. Safety First: Maintain the safe operation of vessels, engines, generators, and associated machinery. Meticulous Maintenance: Keep all machinery (deck and engine) up to operational standards at all times. Ownership and Cleanliness: Take pride in the vessel's machinery spaces, ensuring they are clean, tidy, and hazard-free. Proactive Reporting: Communicate any breakdowns or faults to the Master and Superintendent Engineer, coordinating repairs efficiently. Routine Upkeep: Perform routine maintenance and ensure the Planned Maintenance System is executed flawlessly. Resource Management: Maintain adequate supplies of lube oils and bunkers for continuous operations. Health & Safety Compliance: Conduct regular checks and address or report any issues promptly. Regulatory Adherence: Follow all company, MCA, and external body guidelines, keeping paperwork accurate and up-to-date. Team Leadership: Supervise and train engineering staff, fostering a collaborative and efficient team environment. Survey Coordination: Assist in dry-docking and survey planning, ensuring timely and orderly completion of all work. Defect Management: Advise the Master on defects, maintain a defect log, and prioritize repairs with the Superintendent. Inter-Departmental Collaboration: Work closely with your team, embracing both deck and engine roles. Continuous Improvement: Engage in mandatory and professional development training. Adaptability: Take on additional duties as needed, demonstrating flexibility and responsiveness. What We're Looking For:
Qualifications:
Minimum STCW III/3 Chief Engineer
All STCW basic training in date ENG1 Medical with at least 6 months until expiry Strong analytical skills and the ability to produce detailed, accurate reports Expertise in fault diagnosis and machinery repair Proven leadership and team management abilities Preferably experienced in harbour or terminal towage Strong administrative and computer skills Excellent communication skills Embark on Your Next Adventure with SVITZER!
