The MCS Charitable Foundation, founded by the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS), operates as an independent charity UK wide and oversees the MCS Company. We are at the forefront of efforts to address climate change, working for a carbon-free future for heat and energy and acting as a catalyst for change. Our goal is to create a future where everyone has access to reliable and affordable renewable energy in homes that are warm and efficient. grants and partnerships , driving and supporting innovative projects that will accelerate the decarbonisation of homes. Overseeing the MCS Company, which defines, maintains and improves quality standards for renewable energy at building scale. Through robust, independent

research programmes

and engagement with policymakers, advocating for impactful policy changes. About the role.

We are recruiting a new Chief Executive Officer for the MCS Foundation. This is a high-impact role for an individual keen on contributing to decarbonisation in the UK. We seek someone who can bring their strategic skills and experience to an organisation working to overcome the many practical challenges of making net-zero emissions in homes and buildings a reality. This is a golden opportunity to create a lasting positive impact that will be felt for generations to come. Who we are looking for.

We seek a Chief Executive with a passion for environmental sustainability, social impact, and advancing renewable energy solutions. We need an entrepreneurial individual who can lead the MCS Foundation through its next phase of growth. The ideal candidate will have significant commercial, social enterprise and/or mission-driven growth leadership experience, ideally within a hybrid non-profit and for-profit organisation. They should have created positive change by working with partners across sectors and uniting them with a shared ambitious vision. The new CEO will be forward-thinking and innovative, able to inspire stakeholders at all levels. They will serve as a figurehead for the foundation and positively impact policy and consumers. Strong board-level experience and good governance knowledge are essential, as the new CEO will work effectively with both the Foundation and the Company Boards. They will need to be strategic and opportunistic, leading the direction of travel while being alert to the constantly changing environment within which MCS operates. Translating ambition into action and empowering others are key aspects of this role, along with strong financial acumen and experience of financial growth and income diversification.
