Together, Bede’s offers an outstanding, co-educational, year-round programme to some 1,150 children and young people aged three months to 18 years. In addition, Bede’s runs an extensive summer school across six sites in the South East, which plays host to approximately 1,700 pupils from across the globe. The CEO and Head is now looking to appoint an experienced CFO to lead the financial strategy at Bede’s, while also having oversight of the operational services across the Trust. This is a particularly exciting time to join Bede’s with the near conclusion of the Bede’s Towards 2025 strategy and as a new and exciting five-year plan is developed. Bede’s is an ambitious Trust in a healthy financial position with strategic plans to develop and enhance its reputation as one of the leading family of independent schools in the South East, whilst aware of the challenges the sector faces. Reporting to the CEO and as a member of the Senior Executive Team, the CFO will have overall responsibility for the effective running of the Trust as a business entity. The CFO will lead the financial operations of the Trust, responsible for overseeing financial planning and budgeting, and developing and implementing effective financial strategies ensuring the Trust maintains its strong financial position. The CFO will work closely with the CEO and Board of Governors to help shape and deliver the Trust’s strategy and specifically develop the Bede’s commercial partnership agenda, in response to the macro challenges facing the independent schools sector. The successful candidate will be strategically minded with excellent commercial and financial acumen. They will need to have previously led and managed a multi-disciplinary team and will be able to demonstrate strong interpersonal and communication skills. Prior experience of working in a school environment is not essential and applications are welcomed from a range of professional backgrounds. Those applying from other charitable organisations or the commercial sectors will have a strong interest in the education and aspirations of young people, along with a commitment to support the Trust’s educational aims and values, as part of the wider Bede’s community.
