THE ROLE The Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) is pivotal in driving high-impact marketing strategies and leading a dynamic team to accelerate brand growth and global recognition. This role requires a visionary leader who combines strategic insight with bold creativity to transform the brand into a household name. Through innovative campaigns, data-driven initiatives, and a deep understanding of customer insights, the CMO will elevate the brand and unlock new opportunities in global markets. This is a C-suite, board-facing role, working collaboratively and cross-functionally at pace with all levels as well as external agencies and partners. RESPONSIBILITIES Marketing Strategy Act as a strategic partner to the C-suite, offering insights that drive broader business strategies. Develop and execute a comprehensive marketing strategy that integrates digital and traditional marketing, aligning with the company’s strategic objectives. Evaluate the effectiveness of marketing strategies and adapt plans based on analytics and market trends. Develop and execute market entry strategies in new territories with local partners, tailoring brand positioning and marketing activities to local needs and monitor performance. Expand brand awareness and attract new customers by implementing targeted marketing strategies and campaigns that resonate across diverse markets. Enhance outreach efforts to capture new demographics, leveraging both emerging and established platforms to maximize visibility and engagement. Strategize new methods to foster brand loyalty and encourage customer retention. Oversee the marketing budget, ensuring strategic allocation of resources to maximize impact and return on investment. Conduct regular financial analyses to ensure marketing efforts are cost-effective and meet organizational goals. Plan and oversee the execution of marketing campaigns from conception through to analysis, ensuring they achieve the desired strategic outcomes. Analyze campaign results and refine strategies for future initiatives to enhance effectiveness. Brand & Content Direct the ongoing development and management of the brand to ensure consistency across all marketing channels and initiatives. Innovate and implement brand strategies that effectively communicate the company’s values and mission to the target audience. Supervise the production and creation of engaging content across organic social and paid media channels that resonates with targeted demographics and supports marketing goals. Public Relations Manage public relations, guiding the narrative around the brand and ensuring positive media coverage. Oversee crisis management strategies to maintain brand integrity in adverse situations. Manage relationships with external agencies to maximize positive coverage for Ancient + Brave. Insights & Reporting Lead a comprehensive program of customer insight research to continually gather and analyze data on customer profiling, behaviors, and preferences. Use these insights to improve the customer experience and develop initiatives that delight customers and drive retention, ensuring the brand consistently meets and exceeds evolving customer expectations. Lead efforts to stay ahead of industry trends and maintain a competitive edge. Utilize insights from market analysis to inform strategic marketing decisions and product positioning. Provide comprehensive reports on marketing results and strategic initiatives to executive management and the board. Design Oversee the design team, ensuring creative outputs align with brand objectives and market needs. Foster an environment of creativity and innovation within the team, encouraging a design-centric approach to marketing strategies. Partnerships & Events Lead the Partnerships Team focused on influencers and ambassadors. Develop strategies to effectively leverage these partnerships to amplify brand awareness and deepen market penetration. Monitor the performance and ROI of partnership initiatives to ensure alignment with broader marketing goals. Oversee the planning, execution, and optimization of key brand events, including product launches, experiential activations, and partnerships, to drive consumer engagement, brand awareness, and community building. Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure events align with overarching marketing and business goals. Team & Culture Lead, mentor, and inspire a marketing team to achieve excellence in all marketing endeavors. Cultivate a dynamic and collaborative team environment that fosters creativity and innovation. Foster strong collaborative relationships with other department leaders to ensure marketing strategies are integrated with overall business operations. Work closely with sales and product development teams to create cohesive strategies that enhance overall business performance. Be an ambassador for the Ancient + Brave culture, ensuring the wider team knows how to act in accordance with the company’s values. WHO YOU ARE To be successful in this role, you will need the following skills / knowledge / experience:
Proven track record in successfully growing and scaling brands in relevant international markets at C-suite level. Experience with developing and executing integrated marketing strategies that encompass both digital and traditional channels. Strategic thinker at a global level. Highly skilled in utilizing analytics and data insights to inform and guide strategic decisions. Ability to lead and inspire a marketing team, fostering an environment that encourages creativity and innovation. Excellent understanding of brand management principles and the ability to ensure consistency across all marketing channels and initiatives. Demonstrable skills in financial budget management with a proven track record of maximizing return on investment and ensuring cost-effectiveness. Experience in content development, managing both organic social and paid media campaigns that engage targeted demographics effectively.
