We are currently recruiting a Chief of Staff to work closely with the Senior Leadership team of a financial services business focused on investments in the legal sector. The successful candidate will join a small, entrepreneurial team focusing on high-value and complex legal matters in a new and innovative area of legal and financial services. The candidate will have the opportunity to take on the responsibility of implementing new systems and processes and driving efficiency across the business as a whole. Key Responsibilities
Assisting with strategic and business planning:
Working with the SLT to prioritise and develop business strategy and implementation plan. Project Management:
Oversees and manages high-impact projects or initiatives. Tracks the progress of strategic priorities, ensuring deadlines and deliverables are met. Operational Efficiency:
Assists in improving internal workflows and processes to enhance productivity and communication. Communication and Alignment:
Ensures that communication flows effectively between the SLT and employees. Meeting Preparation and Follow-Up:
Prepares agendas, materials, and briefings for SLT meetings. Relationship Management:
Builds and maintains relationships with key stakeholders, both internally and externally. Represents the SLT in meetings or discussions when necessary. Gatekeeping and Prioritisation:
Filters and prioritises the SLT’s time and attention by managing their calendar and engagements. Decides which matters require the SLT’s immediate attention and which can be delegated. Driving Culture and Vision:
Helps the SLT promote the company’s culture, values, and mission throughout the organisation. Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
A bachelor's degree in business administration, management, or a sector-relevant field. Advanced degree (e.g., MBA, MA) preferred. Significant experience in relevant roles of 7+ years. Strong experience working in legal and/or financial services. Previous experience in project management, consulting, or executive-level operations is highly valued. Experience of working in a smaller organisation - an investment fund would be an advantage. Ability to analyse situations, understand business priorities and make sensible decisions. Exceptional verbal and written communication skills to convey ideas and priorities effectively. Capable of juggling multiple responsibilities and ensuring nothing falls through the cracks. A proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues, including high EQ and ability to work with a variety of people. An ability to handle sensitive information and maintain trust with leadership and employees. Must be comfortable working in fast-paced environments, managing ambiguity and getting a wide variety of tasks done. As a trusted adviser, operational leader, and problem solver, the Chief of Staff will require exceptional leadership, organisational, and communication skills.
