Requirements:

Preferred Requirements - Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in childcare

Enhanced DBS certificate/ Clean criminal record

Basic Food Hygiene Certificate

Paediatric First Aid certificate

Safeguarding children certificate to deliver and support a high standard of learning, development and care for children aged 0-5 years.

Job Description:

To ensure nursery is a safe environment for children, staff and others.

To help ensure nursery meets the OFSTED requirements at all times.

To be vigilant and report to manager/DSL any safeguarding and child protection issues following correct procedure and nursery policy.

To respond appropriately to incidents, accidents, complaints and emergencies.

To contribute to the health and well-being of children at all times.

To participate in daily walks and outings that may involve pushing prams and use of a walk-o-dile, adhering to health & safety requirements.

To safely assist with carrying children up and down stairs as required.

To maintain high standards for safety, cleanliness and hygiene, including stringent daily cleaning of equipment, bathrooms, and toilet areas. To participate in the kitchen cleaning rota as directed.

To understand and promote nursery policies and procedures.

Ability to communicate well with adults and children.

To build and maintain positive partnerships with parents/carers to facilitate the daily learning and care of the children.

To plan and deliver an enticing and thought-provoking EYFS curriculum that supports children to make individual progress.

To observe, plan and evaluate children’s progress ensuring next steps are met.

To be a key person.

To undertake designated officer roles as directed.

To ensure daily records are properly maintained and kept up to date.

Good organisational skills.

Awareness of equality and diversity.

Awareness of health & safety in relation to the role.

To work as part of a team.

To promote the nursery’s ethos, following the 3 I’s.

To attend monthly staff meetings contributing where appropriate.

To attend training to develop CPD and to maintain and utilise up-to-date legislation and practice.

To promote forest school and engage with outdoor learning/walks.

We are also looking for someone who:

Has a warm smiling face that makes every child feel special.

Is able to laugh at jokes they don't understand, or don't find funny!

Preferably has a little bit of quirkiness.

If a child requests that they be a captain of a pirate ship, they will be the best pirate captain they can be!

Feels comfortable telling everybody in the same room as them that they are going to the toilet!

Doesn't have to have the ability to sing in tune, but must have the confidence to sing out of tune in front of a crowd.

Must be able to distribute warm hugs, as and when required.

Must possess the skills required to rapidly count the heads of numerous moving small people.

Must be comfortable entering public places on the way home from work, with unknown substances on their clothing.

Must have a high level of comfort talking about bodily functions.

Must have the ability to pretend to eat playdough creations realistically.

Must have the ability to read a ten-page story, upside down, with at least 4 interruptions per page.

Must be prepared to have lots of fun in the workplace.

Loves being outside come rain or shine.

Must be prepared to feel loved, special and important to many young children and their families.
