37.5 hours per week Our client, a specialist domestic abuse charity, is looking for a Children and Young People's Groupwork Specialist to join their team. Synopsis of Duties:

To ensure that the needs of children and young people you will be working with are met. This will be done by: Providing group work Providing workshops Supporting children to be free from domestic abuse/sexual exploitation Increasing knowledge and understanding of the impact of peer pressure and social media Providing advocacy and support for young people Providing holiday activities Supporting young people to access and maintain education Identifying behaviours that may put the young person at increased risk of victimisation or offending and delivering interventions to target these. Working with young people to identify the impact of witnessing domestic abuse and strategies for coping Working in partnership with Social Services, Education, Health, Police, Community Safety and voluntary organisations to ensure that children and young people using our services have the best possible support and opportunities Signposting young people to services available to support them Supporting other agencies to provide improved responses to domestic abuse and sexual abuse Representing the needs of young people to the wider community Providing young people with ongoing advice and support, including group work and workshops in schools Establishing and maintaining links with statutory and voluntary agencies to promote and support the welfare of children and young people who have experienced domestic abuse Developing effective relationships with relevant local organisations to raise the profile of domestic abuse and its impact on families and to publicise the support networks Advocating for children and young people who have experienced or are experiencing domestic abuse with several agencies or individuals Working with local organisations and groups to establish a safe and accessible place for young people to meet in the community and provide support to prevent domestic abuse Supporting colleagues and partner agencies through awareness raising and institutional advocacy Undertaking risk assessments in liaison with Managers and other team members regarding home visits and neutral location meetings Out of Hours:

When on call, staff need to be available for work and have access to a car. You must also be able to drive and must not be under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Responsibilities include: Dealing with emergencies outside of service hours, which may involve attending refuges Resolving refuge issues over the phone Providing emergency safety advice to refuge residents Admitting families into refuge accommodation Processing referrals into the services Providing telephone support and safety advice to people affected by domestic abuse Providing telephone support to professionals supporting those affected by domestic abuse Supporting clients to access refuge accommodation Providing support and advice to other colleagues out of hours Occasionally attending meetings and events in the evenings and at weekends Essential Requirements:

Experience of working with vulnerable groups Experience of recognising and responding to safeguarding concerns Experience of working within a multi-agency and legislative framework Good understanding of domestic abuse and its impact on all members of the family Theoretical, practical and procedural knowledge of civil and criminal justice remedies for victims of domestic abuse and their children Knowledge of Adult and Child Safeguarding principles and the relevant legislative framework Supporting Futures Consulting acts as both an employer and an agency.
