You will be key in clinically leading a multidisciplinary Children’s and Young Peoples Community Nursing Team that engages across multiple health care partners. You will contribute to the clinical development of the Team, whilst prioritising specialist practice effectively to support the demands of the Service, focusing on the health and wellbeing of children on the caseload. You will have had previous clinical expertise within Children Services, alongside proven and compassionate leadership skills, and be able to promote and work within a culture of innovation and quality improvement that supports Children, Young People and their families to remain at home. We are delighted to offer this newly created post to support the clinical delivery of the Children’s and Young Person Community Nursing Team in Brighton and Hove. As a Registered Nurse- child, you will work alongside clinical and operational colleagues to provide clinical guidance and support the team which focuses on the public health nursing of children and young people and families across Brighton and Hove. Main duties of the job

This role will sit within the Leadership team for the Brighton and Hove Children’s and Young Peoples Community Nursing Team, which is one of the teams that comprises the Sussex Wide Children’s and Young Peoples Community Nursing Service. The role supports and deputises for the Band 8a Matron role, working alongside the Service's Team Lead and Practice Development Nurses. The role is to ensure the smooth clinical delivery of the service, working across professional and clinical disciplines, aligning clinical standards with operational performance. Job Responsibilities

Clinical leadership: As the Clinical Lead in Children’s Community Nursing, you will have both advanced and specialist expertise in clinical children's nursing care, research, audit, practice development, and educational support. You will contribute to the development of the countywide Children and Young Peoples Community Nursing Service plan and ensure policy and practice is developed and delivered in line with Trust and national best practice standards, and will undertake priority clinical projects to improve service provision both locally and Trust-wide. Clinical Expertise: As a Clinical Lead, you will promote the health and wellbeing of children/young people and their families to ensure the provision of high-quality, safe, clinical nursing care to children and families on the CCN caseload in collaboration with the Team Lead. You will hold your own independent clinical caseload and be proficient in clinical nursing assessments and interventions for children/young people in the community. This is a dynamic role able to flex to meet the needs of children and families on the caseload. Nurse Prescribing: The Clinical Lead within Children’s Community Nursing is, or will undertake training to become, a Non-Medical/Independent Nurse Prescriber (V300) who can offer clinical reviews, assessments, and prescribe appropriately for children in the community. Communication and working relationships: Provide, receive, and understand complex, or sensitive information relating to children and young people with a range of health needs. Communicate information effectively with members of the multi-professional team both within the organisation and with external stakeholders and partners. Work with children and families to help maintain their own health and well-being in the community. Communicate complex and sensitive information effectively to children/young people and their families and other staff. Lead and support the team in coordinating the discharge process. Key responsibilities: Support the Team Lead with the recruitment of staff into the team. Support the Team Lead with budgetary responsibility for the team. Lead the Team to take part in the End of Life Care on-call rota. Set and maintain clinical and service performance standards. Ensure health records are maintained and compliant with SCFT Trust policy. The successful candidate will join a Team which delivers excellent Children’s nursing services to the residents of Sussex. You will have a full valid driving licence and access to a car for work purposes. Person Specification

Qualifications and/or professional registration

BSc/MSc Specialist Practice in Community Health/Specialist Practitioner Children's Community Nurse or BSc/MSc Children's Nurse Practitioner. Extensive post-registration relevant clinical children's community nursing experience at Band 6 or above. Recent experience of a relevant leadership role. Disclosure and Barring Service Check
