The Children's Emergency Department (CED) is a very busy accident and emergency department treating 37,000 patients a year and caring for infants, children, and young people aged 0-17 years from Coventry and Warwickshire.

Main duties of the job

Paediatric Clinical Sister/Charge Nurse - Band 6 within the Children's Emergency Department

We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic clinical sister/charge nurse to join our dynamic team within the Children's Emergency Department. You will need to be an excellent communicator and have a demonstrable competence in caring for the ill and injured child or young person and their families.

Extensive post-qualification experience is required, and in return, we offer an opportunity to develop professionally within the team, supported by senior nurses. You will be encouraged to expand your clinical, management, and leadership skills.

Job description

Job responsibilities

Accountable for own actions in accordance with the Code of Professional Conduct, contributing to corporate objectives, acting within local, Trust and statutory guidelines and policies at all times. Effectively communicate information regarding clinical decisions, policy, and care pathways to patients/carers and the multi-professional team. A skilled practitioner and clinical leader providing support to the management team, participating in service/policy development. Responsible for clinical assessment of a group of patients and management of a team, ensuring appropriate care is planned, implemented, and evaluated/audited. Organisation of cross-departmental/organisational activities including HR, resource, and bleep-holder responsibilities as appropriate. Demonstrate highly technical and/or practical skills to ensure optimum patient management including complex patient monitoring equipment management and frequent administration of invasive tests/procedures. Develop and educate staff, participating in supervision, mentorship, and appraisal as required.
