About the Role and the Team: As a Social Worker in our team, you will play a pivotal role in supporting unaccompanied asylum-seeking children (UASC) as they adjust to life in the UK. This is a unique opportunity to empower vulnerable young people, providing them with the care and guidance they need to thrive. As a restorative practice local authority, we have a high support high challenge environment and a commitment to delivering an excellent service to our asylum-seeking young people. Responsibilities: Supporting UASC as looked-after children, ensuring their safety, well-being, and development. Helping them navigate the complexities of the immigration system and advocating for their rights. Supporting asylum-seeking young people as children in care. Creating and implementing “triple plan” pathway plans tailored to their immigration, education, health, employment, housing, cultural, and personal needs. Conducting specialist assessments, including Merton-compliant age assessments where required. Promoting cultural awareness and ensuring sensitivity to the religious and cultural needs of UASC. Key Requirements: Qualified and registered with Social Work England. Passionate about supporting vulnerable children and young people. Culturally aware, empathetic, and sensitive to the unique needs of asylum-seeking children. Able to build trusting relationships with young people and advocate effectively on their behalf. While it is not essential, we would also welcome applications from practitioners who are experienced in working with asylum-seeking young people and who possess a good understanding of the risks and challenges faced by them and the legal context that shapes their lives.
