I am a registered psychotherapist with a Bachelor of Social Sciences in Psychology, certified in Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy, and a certified Buddhist chaplain. I work with adults experiencing a range of personal issues. If you are looking for a deeper understanding of how you got to be where you are and how you might move forward, I can help. You might consider psychotherapy if: You experience anxiety or depression. Have difficulty enjoying life, feeling hopeful, and experiencing pleasure. Have difficulty maintaining a job, family, friendships, and other relationships. Experience persistent and regular negative thoughts about your ability to achieve, be successful, and deserving. Have intense and disturbing emotional reactions that seem out of place with the present situation. Feel frozen or stuck in familiar circumstances without understanding why. Feel detached from oneself and the world. Experience grief and loss. I am trained to help you discover and change habitual physical and psychological patterns that impede optimal functioning and well-being. We will work together towards integrating what has happened in the past and developing wholesome ways to alleviate suffering and cultivate happiness in the present. I work for The Nelson Clinic, ACC, WINZ, EAP, and in private practice. If you have any questions or would like to contact me for a free 15-minute consultation, please send me an email. Below you will find reviews about Counselling & Psychotherapy Christchurch NZ - Lea: Rating of 5 out of 5 based on 7 reviews. I have been fortunate to enjoy 8 sessions of Mindfulness training with Lea. Her approach has always been gentle and respectful. I have learnt strategies to enable me to function more calmly when faced with stressful situations in my everyday life. I have been lucky enough to have been working with Lea for nearly six months. I started seeing Lea as part of my battle with cancer. Not only is this disease physically demanding, the mental toll is very taxing as well. The work I have done so far with Lea has been a key factor in me keeping my mental state in good health. I can honestly say Lea has helped me in the direction I had been trying for but couldn’t find on my own, and the tools I have learnt from her are helping me stay on that path. Thanks Lea! Thanks so much again for a life-changing 8 weeks (MBCT). This practice is changing the relationship I have with myself, my thoughts, feelings, and my actions and transforming the way I relate to and connect with the world around me every day in surprising ways. Lea has such a caring nature who listens well and has a lot of empathy. I met Lea on one of her amazing mindfulness courses that’s life-changing and continued to see Lea for counselling at the beginning of my grief journey. I absolutely can recommend Lea to anyone needing help through any life-challenging journey. I am extremely fortunate to have had a series of psychotherapy sessions with Lea. She is a sensitive, empathetic, and professional therapist who really helped me cope with my family background, medical history, and life experiences in a positive way. I strongly recommend Lea as a psychotherapist.
