About the Job To be responsible for assisting the design delivery team in the development and coordination of civil and structural design within the field of High Voltage electricity distribution, HV substations, and cable route portfolio. Your expertise will contribute to the successful execution of projects and the delivery of high-quality engineering solutions in various aspects of projects. You will be working closely with both internal and external electrical designs to develop and deliver the design. Responsibilities: Produce conceptual designs, detailed designs, manufacturing specifications, operational documentation, and validation evidence for civil & structural engineering solutions in relation to defined requirements; Work closely with technical teams to ensure standards & budgets are met; Create and coordinate conceptual engineering drawings using CAD packages and sketches for drafting; Contribute to construction configuration baselines; Deliver high-quality technical reports and presentations; Identify and support opportunities for cost savings, efficiency, and business improvement; Ensure that projects comply with relevant codes, regulations, and standards; Conduct site visits to assess construction progress, quality, and adherence to design specifications; Work closely with designers and other professionals to integrate various project elements. What You Will Need to Be Successful: Educated to degree level in a relevant engineering discipline with, ideally, Incorporated or Chartered Engineer status or advanced in process of applying for professional registration; Have experience working in, or with, industry, preferably in a multi-disciplinary design, development, and production environment, creating bespoke solutions, using both digital and analogue technologies; Demonstrate a working knowledge of the DNO Industry Best Practice is desirable; Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; Excellent communication and teamwork abilities; A sound knowledge of applicable policies, standards, and national legislation; Broad and extensive experience in the development of engineering technology; Experience of working in railway/energy infrastructure management or a similar safety-critical environment; Proficiency in civil engineering software, such as Civil 3D, Telka TEDDS, Micro Drainage, and CityEngine, as well as CAD; Outstanding self-reliance, resourcefulness, and initiative, flexible approach, and excellent time management.
