Created to support New Build projects localized in the UK, the entity’s mission is to promote Tractebel as a key player in the nuclear business in the UK. The Consortium SICOS (composed of Tractebel, Egis, and Setec) is in charge of the design and detailing of the reinforced concrete structures of the Nuclear Island of Hinkley Point C (HPC) Nuclear Power Plant, currently one of the world’s largest construction projects. HPC is set to be the benchmark for future construction of similar projects in the UK. This is a great way to be exposed to the latest technology and digital construction methods with 3D BIM rebar modeling on such a large industrial project. Job profile
We are looking for a motivated Civil Engineer to work on the design and construction of the Hinkley Point C (HPC) nuclear power plant. As part of the Joint Design Office (JDO), your responsibilities will include:
Managing and treating the site change requests respecting the design intent, project specifications, and deadlines.
Supporting the Civil Team of the Nuclear Island in optimizing the design received from the Back office.
Being supported by an experienced team composed of Detailers, BIM Coordinators, and Senior Engineers who will help you in your daily tasks.
Reporting to the area pilot.
You will be involved in the activities undertaken by our site-based team, which will include:
Addressing civil works contractor’s queries related to the design packages released by the Back Office.
Handling Request For Information (RFI) and providing clarification to the site.
Assessing Field Change Requests (FCR) from the site and their feasibility.
Coordinating with the drafting team to manage the implementation of design modifications in the 3D models and 2D drawings.
Assessing Non-Conformance Reports (NCR) from the civil works contractor and the proposed repair solutions or additional measures.
Conducting quick assessments on reinforcement concrete issues (hand calculations).
Communicating with the back-office team and the Client team on site as appropriate.
Visiting the site to analyze potential issues or requests.
Essential Experience
The ideal candidate will have:
Experience in Civil or Structural Engineering with at least 3 years of proven experience in the field.
Aiming towards or having chartership status with either the ICE or the IStructE.
Experience in reinforced concrete calculation and design.
Experience in nuclear or complex industrial projects.
Familiarity with relevant technical Codes of Practice and industry Standards (ETC-C, Eurocodes, and British Standard).
Experience in reinforced concrete detailing.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
A collaborative mindset to work within a multicultural team.
Self-motivation towards improving personal performance and generating innovative outcomes to challenges.
Ability to work to deadlines, enjoy new challenges, and be keen to learn while also supporting others within the team.
