This organisation is a cross-border entity responsible for managing, maintaining, developing, and restoring a vast network of inland navigable waterways, Greenways, and Blueways across the island of Ireland. With a focus on recreational use, the organisation oversees a range of infrastructure assets, including navigation channels, towpaths, harbours, bridges, locks, and more.

The Engineer will join an established engineering team based in Enniskillen, working on projects throughout Ireland. This role involves supporting the development, design, and construction of new and refurbishment projects related to the inland waterway system, from feasibility through to completion.

Key Responsibilities:

Civil and Structural Design:

Conduct surveys, inspections, and evaluations of potential projects, followed by report writing. Prepare feasibility studies, designs, drawings, tenders, and contract documents. Supervise site works. Contribute to the delivery of capital works and maintenance programs. Assist in managing and monitoring projects within budget, ensuring deadlines and quality standards are met.

Environmental Management:

Collaborate with environmental bodies to agree on environmental requirements. Ensure environmental legislation and directives are considered in project designs.

Health and Safety:

Understand relevant health, safety, and welfare legislation and ensure compliance in all activities. Adhere to the organisation’s Health and Safety policy. Integrate health and safety considerations into project designs.

Strategic Contributions:

Assist in the development and implementation of organisational policies, strategies, and standards. Provide information for financial and progress reporting on projects under your control.

Teamwork and Communication:

Work effectively with engineering team members and supervise staff when necessary. Foster productive working relationships both internally and externally. Liaise with other sections within the organisation, as well as with community, local organisations, and statutory authorities.

General Duties:

Handle tasks assigned by Senior Management and the Chief Executive. Address queries forwarded to the organisation. Represent the organisation at meetings/functions during and outside normal working hours. Undertake required training and promote organisational policies on equality.
