Mott MacDonald Bentley are recruiting for a Civil Engineer to join the South West Water framework on a permanent basis, working from our Exeter office. With a large ramp-up of work in front of us, we have a host of engineering projects which require our Delivery team to deliver engineering excellence. To bolster civil engineering capabilities and provide fresh ideas and perspective on our ways of working, we are looking for a Civil Engineer to join the team. To ensure we support our objectives of collaboration across the business whilst providing our workforce with the agility to achieve a healthy work/life balance, we are asking our staff to have office or site presence on an average of three days a week. What will you be doing as our new Civil Engineer? Working as a talented civil engineer within a multi-disciplinary project team, you’ll provide the civil engineering technical capability and design expertise to develop and deliver water solutions. Key responsibilities: Production of civil designs, calculations and specifications to ‘Issued For Construction’ standard for water, liaising directly with CAD technicians to enable production of either 3D models or 2D drawings. Working within multi-discipline design teams to produce designs which are on time, within budget and meet the required standards, liaising with stakeholders including Operations, contractors and suppliers along the way. Drive excellence in Health and Safety in design by eliminating hazards and reducing risks during design whilst complying with CDM procedures. Progress projects from feasibility stage through detailed design to construction. Undertake site visits to assess current condition of our assets for feasibility studies, reports and provide survey data for integration of the asset into our design solution. Provide support to update existing, and increase the number of, Standard Products that are used within our design solutions on a repeatable basis. Identify and promote opportunities to meet the project digital, sustainability, innovation and people objectives. A little bit about your skills, experience and behaviours: To join us on the team, ideally you’ll hold a minimum of HNC/HND in Civil Engineering or demonstrate a suitable level of experience in Civil Engineering. Have demonstrable experience in undertaking design of various civil engineering structures within the Water and Waste Water Industry. You’ll be accustomed to communicating with a range of people as you collaborate to meet, and exceed, stakeholder expectations. Mott MacDonald Bentley is a joint venture business, established in 1999 between civil engineering contractor JN Bentley and global management consultancy, Mott MacDonald. Mott MacDonald Bentley offers fully integrated design and build services to its clients, combining the contracting expertise of JN Bentley and the design specialisms of Mott MacDonald. This role is employed by Mott MacDonald but will involve working across the joint venture business, both with Mott MacDonald and JN Bentley colleagues.
