Role - Civils Project Engineer
Location - Brighton
Purpose of the role:
An opportunity has arisen for a Civils Project Engineer to join the team at Galliford Try within our Environment Business. You will become a key member of a team successfully delivering schemes of varying sizes predominately to the Water Industry in sewage and clean water. Reporting to the Project Manager, you will work alongside the project delivery team to ensure the scope, design, procurement, financial control and site activities are achieved.
Key Responsibilities:
Outline engineering from inception to Contract Award of schemes utilising in-house resources, external consultants and construction personnel.
Delivery of water MEICA & civils projects and solutions e.g., Pumping Stations, Dosing Systems, Chlorination plants & associated civil structures etc.
Early site investigation works in coordination with the client, design and project team.
Production and review of health and safety documentation (risk assessments & method statements / Project management plans).
Procurement of materials.
Attend/undertake site and works testing, commissioning, and client training.
Attendance and input into internal and client design reviews.
Working closely with the design team to gather all required information, participate in regular design reviews and Hazard Studies to develop the best solution.
Involvement with cost to complete / budget reviews with the project delivery teams.
Involvement with developing the cost to tender and the ultimate project strategy to ensure successful project delivery.
Negotiating with suppliers and subcontractors.
Involvement with preparation of subcontract orders.
Assistance with the evaluation and submission of claims for variation works.
Liaison with site manager and site teams to ensure work is completed to programme, budget, and quality.
Developing Inspection and Test Plans and ensuring they are completed as the scheme progresses.
Innovation whilst maintaining compliance to current standards.
Preparation & management of project programmes.
Proactive approach to maintaining high standards of Health & Safety performance.
To work with the team to develop and close out all contract documentation such as, "As built" drawings, Commissioning Manuals and Operation and Maintenance Manuals.
About You:
An industry applicable civils ONC/HNC/B.Eng or NVQ equivalent.
Proven experience within the Water Industry.
Civils structural detailing and reinforcement experience desirable but not essential.
Good knowledge of the buildability and sequencing of civils structures.
Commercial and contractual awareness.
Working knowledge of Microsoft packages including Project.
Desire to understand and promote the Company purpose, vision, values and culture.

Excellent communication skills (email/phone/face to face).
