The Role The Civils System Specialist may have specific expertise and accountability in one or several assets or sub systems and is continuously developing skills and knowledge in all department assets. Reporting to the Department Group Leader, the Civils System Specialist focuses their support to the Technicians delivering daily maintenance tasks, ongoing engineering projects and asset managements. Flexibility and agility are crucial in this role, allowing positive reactivity to operational needs in support of quality of service. Within the Infrastructure learning and development culture, the Civils System Specialist is required to promote sharing of knowledge and expertise, mentoring and assessment of all team members as required. Principal Accountabilities, Qualifications and Experience Applies engineering expertise, focused on asset management and data to assist the Group Leader and, as tasked by the Technical Lead helps define and implement Departmental strategies and objectives and CAPEX budget forecasts in accordance with Divisional and Company objectives. Provides detailed engineering view and evidence/data for all assets in which they hold expertise, supports peers and Technical Lead with Engineering discussion and decisions relating to the department assets or related projects. In consultation and as tasked by the Technical Lead, is responsible for collecting and interpreting data streams for all assets to confirm asset condition, life expectancy, accuracy of current maintenance schedules and the LSM/CAPEX renewal investment plan. Focuses on continuous asset/maintenance improvement. Identifying and overseeing maintenance practices. Provides specialist guidance for the department assets for which the role holder holds expertise, supporting the quality, safety, availability, and reliability of the department assets, fully respecting the operational needs. As requested by the Technical Lead, provide expertise to Project Managers. Accountable for all maintenance and engineering documentation and practices, relevant to the role holders’ expertise. Meet the required standards in compliance with industry engineering standards including CSM-RA and CDM regulations (UK) where applicable (applies to Preventative/Corrective maintenance in addition to Project delivery.) Supports the Technical Lead, with asset management, by identifying and interpreting data streams for all assets to confirm asset condition, life expectancy, accuracy of current maintenance schedules and the LSM/CAPEX renewal investment plan. The objective is to maximise life expectancy, anticipating LSM and renewal programs with no impact to safety, service, quality, or maintenance operations. Produce the necessary analysis reports and presentations related to the task. Support and oversee the real-time engineering standards of all contracts, ensuring they meet both legislation and Eurotunnel standards in relation to the Civils System Specialists’ area of expertise. Responsible for the leadership of Contractors within own area. Qualified to a high standard in the field of Civil engineering expertise, with a minimum 3 years’ experience in a leading Engineering role. A lower qualification may be considered with proven demonstratable work experience in a leading Engineering role. NVQ Trainer and Assessor. Extensive knowledge of Eurotunnel is desirable. Knowledge and experience of a railway/Industrial engineering and operational environment. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite. Safety/crisis/incident management. Change Management (CSM-RA) Accident investigation and root cause analysis. Knowledge of internal and external regulations/standards in the Health & Safety, Quality and Environment fields. The ability to communicate in French is not essential but would be an advantage. To meet the required medical standard for the role. A Driving License and Passport are essential.
