Very competitive salary and pension plus benefits, City of London THE ORGANISATION With the first written mention of their craft guild in 1376, the Company is one of the oldest of the 111 Livery companies in London. Originally based around the making and selling of candles made from tallow (the rendered fat of animals such as cows and sheep), the Company was granted full Livery status in 1462. Today, with around 320 members, its own Grade II* listed hall, and governed by a Court of Assistants, the focus is on the education of young people with a particular emphasis on three state schools in London, as well as supporting charities and military organisations (https://www.tallowchandlers.org/ ) THE ROLE Lead, support and inspire the staff of seven to implement the work of the Company as determined by the Court, and well delegated to staff. Lead and manage the decision-making process and subsequent implementation for all aspects of the Benevolent Fund’s business. Ensure the smooth operation and administration of committee meetings during the course of the year, in particular supporting the Master and representing the Company at a significant number of external events. Actively support the work of the charitable arm of the Company and be responsible for the management of the financial affairs of the Company. THE CANDIDATE Strong leadership experience across the full functional range expected in a Small and Medium Enterprise with complex stakeholders. Excellent interpersonal skills to liaise with staff, members, the Court and external partners. Self confident and outgoing persona who enjoys ceremonial duties and events.
