Are you a Kent-based qualified accountant looking for better work/life balance?

Do you thrive on building meaningful relationships with clients and guiding them towards success?

Do you have a passion for numbers and how they can translate into real-life achievements for small businesses?

If you have answered "Yes!" to those questions we have just the job for you...

When you join us, you will become part of a small team who cares deeply and is committed to providing a supportive environment for its clients and team members to reach their goals - whatever these might be.

Once settled in, you'll be able to work flexibly and remotely if you want to. We believe in work-life balance as well as being a sustainable business, so we're cloud-based and paperless, and only request we all work from our office in Marden, Kent one day a week. We find it easier to foster team spirit that way.

You will work with clients who choose to work with us because they're interested in their numbers, not just submitting documents on time. So you won't be working to HMRC's or Companies House deadlines, and you won't be doing tax returns under pressure in January!

You will be part of an organisation that strives to grow its client base and service offering by adopting best-of-breed cloud-based software solutions and collaborating with other professional service providers. We believe SMEs deserve access to the tools and techniques used by world-class businesses in a user-friendly and cost-effective way.

You will be encouraged to contribute to, innovate and challenge how we do things to provide better and more efficient services.

You will design a training programme for your own development needs and be given time to ensure that you keep up to date with taxation and technology changes.

We celebrate our successes and have annual social events based on the team's suggestions. We last took Leeds Castle on Segways.

What you can expect A salary between £45,000 and £55,000, depending on qualifications and experience, pro rata. 25 days holiday plus bank holidays. We close the office to clients at Christmas so no one has to work, but the option is there to work uninterrupted if that's what you prefer. Contribution to the company auto-enrolment pension scheme, or your own - your choice. This is a full-time opportunity, but we would consider part-time applicants willing to commit to a minimum of 25 hours a week.

Here is how one of our team members describes working with us:

"It is a nurturing place to work whilst being part of a progressive, ambitious company. The team is great to work with and you are listened to and respected. The clients are interesting and the work is varied with the growing client base and evolving technologies." Mary - June 2023

What you will be responsible for The happiness of your client portfolio, as well as client satisfaction in understanding their business's financial performance. The efficiency and effectiveness of the finance processes we have implemented for your clients. The preparation of year-end accounts, corporation tax, personal tax returns and management accounts. You will review the work of our bookkeepers, and as with any small business - sometimes have to do it yourself. Being a virtual Finance Manager / Financial Controller for some of your clients. You'll identify ways we can improve as a business so that you can be a part of a more efficient team, add more value and give a better experience to our customers.

This fantastic position will almost certainly suit you IF you ..... have at least 3 years post-qualification experience working in a UK accountancy practice. are able to advise owner-managed businesses and start-ups in basic tax planning, such as remuneration planning, timing of investments or use of losses. can navigate Xero bookkeeping and reporting with your eyes closed - and have experience of an accounts production and tax software (We use taxcalc, training can be provided). Care as much about the people behind the client's business as about the accuracy of your work. have deeply held core values which are aligned with ours: Integrity, Commitment to Excellence, Teamwork, Efficiency, Care Deeply and Learn Everyday. Are always looking for ways to improve processes and outcomes. Can commute to Marden, Kent for your settling in period and at least once a week thereafter. Your next step....

The first step to join us is to send your CV, with a short covering note explaining why you feel you will thrive in this position.

The full process will include a short interview conducted online, some tests followed by a full interview at our office, references will be taken. We want to ensure the position is right for you so you will have ample opportunity to ask questions.
