Shropshire - Home Based for administration tasks - Then visiting your clients at sites

Circa £22,500 - £25,000 with progression to £29,000 once qualification completed

Monday - Friday 9am - 5pm with 1 hour for lunch - 35 hours per week

Our client is a successful charity organisation who has a vacancy for an advocate to join their friendly and rewarding organisation on a permanent basis. This role will initially begin as a trainee role (unless you are already qualified), where you will spend around 3 months learning the role and shadowing others, with the view at that time if all is going well, they will give you the chance to complete a general and specialist qualification that is relevant to this role. Once completed, this will allow you to grow to a higher level within the paygrade system in the company.

The purpose of this role is for you to provide advocacy ensuring that clients are supported and represented. To ensure peoples wishes, feelings, beliefs, needs and values are considered, leading to strong outcomes for the individual. You will promote self-advocacy and empowerment at every opportunity and will work in accordance with the relevant legislation such as Mental Capacity Act, Mental Health Act, Care Act, Children and Young Persons Act and Human Rights Act. You will identify and explore alternative options and potential courses of action, bringing them to the attention of clients and relevant professionals whilst ensuring that people understand their rights and are supported to make informed decisions.

This role is home based for all your administrative tasks and will involve meeting clients on site around Shropshire. You manage your own diary and plan all of your meetings yourself, and all travel expenses will be covered in your expenses. Some visits will be at medical centres/offices around Shropshire; however, we have been told some meetings will be held in people private residence also.

Responsibilities and duties will include, but not limited to:

To help clients understand their rights, what is being considered around their care, treatment and support and the impact of any decisions that might be made. To explain to the client their options and rights and support them to communicate their wishes so that they can participate as fully as possible in the decisions affecting them. To prepare the client for, and to support and facilitate their participation in, meetings about them, for example best interest's meetings, multi-disciplinary discharge planning meetings, local resolution meetings, assessments, care reviews, care and/or support planning, Adult Protection Committee, Child Protection Conferences, safeguarding enquiries and safeguarding reviews. To check and challenge local authorities, NHS and/or professionals as appropriate to ensure they are acting in the best interests of the client, that due process has been followed and that strong outcomes are achieved for the client. To raise any safeguarding concerns with the relevant external bodies in accordance with the company's safeguarding policy. To maintain accurate and timely records using the company's data base and write reports in line with latest legislation and VoiceAbility standards, protocols, and timescales. To develop and share good practice and learning with colleagues. Promote a culture of continuous service improvement in partnership with the Practice Development Team. Build supportive relationships with peers. To build and maintain good working relationships with professionals promoting a positive image of the company. Develop effective supportive working relationships with clients whilst maintaining professional boundaries. Ensure cost effective and sustainable use of resources and timely submission of associated documents and reports. Raise awareness of the company and its services in a variety of ways including undertaking marketing and networking tasks. To live and breathe company values through own behaviour and by inspiring/guiding others in the way we work. To be proactive with own personal development and undertake any training deemed appropriate, including working towards professional qualifications such as the Independent Advocacy Practice qualification core and specialist modules. To accept other accountabilities and tasks commensurate with the role level.
