£20.00 - £26.00 - £32.00 per hour (Umbrella) / £16.50 - £20.00 - £26.00 per hour (PAYE) Job Summary We are looking for Clinical Coders at various levels of experience (Trainee, Qualified, Accredited, and Senior) to join our dedicated team in Surrey. As a Clinical Coder, you will play a key role in the accurate coding of patient data, supporting data management, and ensuring compliance with NHS coding standards. The role involves working with medical records to assign the correct codes for diagnoses and procedures. Depending on your experience, you will be offered a role that aligns with your qualifications and competencies. Key Responsibilities Trainee Clinical Coders: Assist in reviewing patient medical records and applying the correct codes for diagnoses and procedures under supervision. Participate in training and development programmes to progress to Band 4. Maintain accurate coding records and assist with data entry tasks. Qualified Clinical Coders: Independently review and code patient medical records, ensuring accuracy and adherence to national coding standards. Collaborate with clinical and coding teams to ensure clear and accurate documentation. Support audits and contribute to the improvement of coding practices. Accredited Clinical Coders (ACC): Use your National Clinical Coding Qualification (NCCQ) to independently code complex medical records. Ensure coding compliance with NHS guidelines and provide oversight of quality control. Mentor and support junior coders, as well as participate in coding audits. Senior Clinical Coders: Take a leading role in coding complex or high-priority medical records, ensuring they meet the highest standards. Lead coding audits, conduct data analysis, and identify opportunities for process improvements. Provide mentorship and training to junior coders and contribute to departmental initiatives. Liaise with clinical teams to resolve coding ambiguities and ensure complete and accurate data. Essential Requirements Trainee Clinical Coders: Basic knowledge of medical terminology and healthcare systems. Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow instructions accurately. Good communication and IT skills. Qualified Clinical Coders: Relevant experience or qualification in clinical coding. Strong knowledge of ICD-10 and OPCS-4 coding systems. Ability to work independently and meet deadlines. Accredited Clinical Coders (ACC): National Clinical Coding Qualification (NCCQ). Extensive experience in clinical coding with a solid understanding of NHS coding guidelines. Excellent attention to detail, problem-solving, and communication skills. Senior Clinical Coders: National Clinical Coding Qualification (NCCQ) and significant experience in a clinical coding environment. In-depth knowledge of coding systems and NHS coding practices. Proven ability to lead teams, manage audits, and support the development of coding practices. Desirable Skills for All Levels Previous experience in coding within an NHS or healthcare environment. Proficiency in coding software and NHS coding databases. Ability to work in a fast-paced, data-driven environment. DBS Requirement An enhanced DBS check will be required for all roles, although this is not for regulated activities.
