Fixed Term Opportunity: Clinical Coding Admin Assistant Sheffield Children's is committed to delivering outstanding healthcare. Our services rely on accurate and efficient patient health data, which is managed by our dedicated clinical coding team. We are looking for two Clinical Coding Admin Assistants to support the team in capturing health data within our outpatient services. You will help identify gaps in data capture and improve the Trust's data quality and income generation. You will also gain exposure to different processes within the hospital, providing valuable experience in clinical coding, which can lead to a professional career pathway. While beneficial, prior experience in electronic health records or patient administration systems isn't required, as full training will be provided. We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic and can manage their workload while working to agreed timescales. Reporting into the Clinical Coding Manager, your responsibilities will include: Use the Careflow PAS system to identify clinic activity for coding. Review outpatient clinic notes and assign appropriate clinical codes. Input codes accurately into the system. Escalate complex cases to senior team members when needed. Work with colleagues to gather missing information for coding. Communicate with clinicians to clarify coding queries. Handle coding-related enquiries from staff by phone. Help with internal and external audits by gathering data. Attend team meetings to help standardise coding practices. Identify areas for improvement in clinical documentation and processes. About us

Qualifications/Training

5 GCSE's (or equivalent) to include English Language and Mathematics. Recognised qualification at NVQ 3 level, or equivalent experience. Successful completion of both basic and advanced Clinical Coding & Anatomy and Physiology training courses. Experience

Experience of working in a fast-paced, busy role. Experience of working with confidential, sensitive information. Experience of delivering a high standard of customer service. Knowledge and Skills

Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomical and physiological terms. High levels of attention to detail and ability to hold attention while looking at lots of different information. Ability to explain processes to people clearly, adapting communication style as necessary. Ability to explore and solve problems. Collaborative team member to work together to address missing information and queries. Computer literate with experience of working with various IT systems. Personal Attributes
