CLINICAL CODING SPECIALIST/MENTOR

We are looking to recruit highly motivated and enthusiastic specialist Clinical Coders to join our Trust; Your role will have responsibilities to ensure all coding is completed timely and accurately for SUS deadlines and support Payment by Results with the assistance of all colleagues.

The post holder will be responsible for coding some complex specialities. They will work as part of the central coding team alongside other coders and additionally with other specialist coders as part of a more expert team sharing knowledge and providing assistance to trainee members of the team.

The post holder will act as a "mentor" and first port of call for any coding queries. Together with the Management team, they will take the lead in meetings with clinicians and other Trust staff to review and discuss coding.

Applicants will be expected to work across any of the locations under MWL, including Southport.

Main duties of the job

To work closely with the Coding Manager, Mentors, Auditors, and other Clinical Coding Specialists to support the improvement in clinical documentation and accurate clinically coded data. To advise on data recording practises to ensure clinical coding accurately reflects inpatient care delivered. Undertake internal clinical coding validation audits highlighting training and data quality issues to the Clinical Coding Manager.

We provide the Mersey Regional Burns & Plastic Surgery Unit at Whiston Hospital and the Spinal Injuries Unit at Southport Hospital to more than 4 million people across the whole of Merseyside, West Lancashire, Cheshire, Isle of Man and North Wales.
