Main Duties of the Job This position requires the post holder to be able to travel (often at short notice) and carry bulky and/or heavy equipment between clinical and non-clinical environments and bases, including patient's homes, primary care facilities, office spaces, and residential/nursing homes, so access to reliable transport is essential. The post holder will be expected to complete 7 consultation contacts a day, at separate addresses, to maintain provision of our services. The post holder will provide Dietetic treatment for adults based in community settings. The service will be provided in a range of locations including clinics, patients' own homes, care homes, and the intermediate care unit if needed. You will be interested in a wide range of conditions and maintaining broad dietetic skills and will enjoy working both with patients and other health professionals attending MDTs where needed. You will be interested in supporting patients needing nutritional support e.g., cancer patients, patients with neurological conditions including some tube feeding patients and will carry out telephone assessments on urgent patients to avoid delay. You will be involved in appropriate prescribing initiatives, taking the lead and liaising with medicines management if appropriate. You will be involved in the training of student dietitians during their placements.

Person Specification Qualifications Essential BSc (Hons) or post-graduate diploma in nutrition and dietetics Current Registration with the HCPC Evidence of ongoing CPD and relevant training courses
Desirable Member of BDA and/or appropriate specialist groups
Knowledge Essential Good knowledge of the dietetic treatment of a range of conditions Good knowledge of both oral nutritional support and tube feeding Knowledge of relevant clinical guidelines Good clinical reasoning skills to underpin dietetic assessments including the ability to assess a situation holistically
Desirable Knowledge on the ACBS criteria for prescribing nutritional supplements and ability to apply reasoning and judgement in their use Knowledge of dietetic diagnosis (PASS statements) and outcome measures
Experience Essential Experience working with patients with a range of clinical conditions including oral nutritional support and tube feeding Experience working with patients with long-term or degenerative conditions Practical experience in the NHS or similar environment
