This is an exciting opportunity for a gynaecological oncology subspecialty trainee from an RCOG accredited training centre in the UK to undertake a fixed term, 3 month (3-6 months negotiable) fellowship at the Peritoneal Malignancy Institute at Basingstoke. The successful candidate will join the team of surgeons at this world-renowned centre of excellence in the management of pseudomyxoma peritonei and bowel cancer, and will attend theatre sessions, outpatient clinics, MDT meetings and will participate in the daytime management of patients. This BGCS supported fellowship provides a unique opportunity to the successful candidate to improve skills in peritoneal surgery. By the end of the fellowship, the successful candidate is expected to acquire the holistic approach to patients with peritoneal carcinomatosis and to be able to translate this to the management of patients with advanced ovarian cancer. This fellowship carries an opportunity to contribute towards several modules of the gynaecological oncology subspecialty curriculum. This post is available from May 2026. Involvement in colorectal and peritoneal malignancy surgery and take part in wards rounds theatre and outpatient sessions. Involvement in and responsible for inputting outcome data into the colorectal and peritoneal malignancy databases. Using data to submit abstracts and papers to national and international meetings and journals. Supporting the organisation and running of courses and teaching sessions and collaborate and work as part of a research team with the pelican and other fellows. Participating in weekly colorectal MDT and Peritoneal Malignancy Specialist MDT and attend the weekly unit diary meeting and MDT's. Participating in the publication and presentation of results from the unit. Involvement in specialty and directorate meetings and presentation of case summaries. Two meetings a week in General Surgery are held for case presentations, histopathology, and Postgraduate Education. About us

Training and Qualifications

FRCS or equivalents required Registration with the GMC & licence to practice Post Graduate Thesis Experience & Knowledge

Clinical training and experience in general surgery Ability to offer expert clinical opinion on range of problems both emergency and elective within specialty Ability to take full and independent responsibility for clinical care of patients CCT or equivalent/advanced level training Skills & Ability

18 months + experience in colorectal surgery Ability to advise on efficient and smooth running of specialist service Ability to motivate and develop the multidisciplinary team, balancing departmental and personal objectives Teaching & Audit

Ability to apply research outcomes to clinical problems Involvement in clinical audits Completion of a significant audit which changed practice Publications in refereed journals Disclosure and Barring Service Check
