We are looking to recruit a Clinical Lead to join our Integrated Wheelchair Service. This is an exciting role as you will have the opportunity to provide expert clinical leadership to our team, deliver clinical operational performance, and simultaneously work with the operational management team to focus on continuous quality improvement. You will be supporting a talented group of local clinical staff including occupational therapists, physiotherapists, rehabilitation assistants, rehabilitation engineers and rehabilitation engineering technicians. You will work closely with the clinical director and clinical leads/managers from the other AJM wheelchair services. We have developed strong professional excellence sharing networks across the organisation and have an embedded quality assurance framework. You will promote the service and work of the organisation through relevant national bodies, such as the Posture and Mobility Group, and professional bodies. This role provides you with the opportunity to focus on offering your vision and leadership to improve the quality of service user outcomes. Main duties of the job

Be responsible for developing and maintaining the clinical foundation of the service within our clinical governance structure; this will include applying clinical policies and procedures, particularly clinical supervision, caseload management and clinical audit. Manage, coach, lead, and develop staff on a day to day basis. Empower the team to achieve results within a measurable and structured approach, ensuring full accountability for actions and problem resolution, also promoting interdisciplinary working. Ensure clinical competency and high standards of clinical practice in line with local, national and regulatory policy. Proactively promote the service across the county, working with our partnership and engagement team to ensure service user involvement and joint working with other agencies and organisations. Lead the clinical development of the service in line with national guidelines and developments in the evidence base. Work closely with the service management team to meet key performance indicators. Lead from the front by using highly advanced clinical reasoning to fit and, with tools, adjust equipment to meet service user needs; this will involve detailed instruction on safe use and care of the equipment. You will have your own clinical caseload for which you are responsible; you will plan the rota of work for the clinical team as a whole, working closely with customer services. About us

Skills and Knowledge

Advanced knowledge of a range of neurological and musculoskeletal conditions. Advanced skills in the assessment of adults and children with physical disability with sound clinical reasoning skills. Advanced knowledge of 24 hour postural management and its impact on wheelchair and seating provision. Advanced knowledge of pressure ulcer avoidance and management. Comprehensive understanding and application of clinical governance. Knowledge of relevant legislation in relation to current practice. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Strong interpersonal communication skills. Strong time management and organisational skills. Ability to motivate a team and carry them through periods of change. Car driver with license valid for the UK. Experience

Post graduate experience relevant to the wheelchair service. Writing and handover of prescriptions for a wide range of wheelchairs and seating across a range of clinical presentations for both adults and children. Managing own caseload and that of others. Supervising a range of clinical staff at a range of levels of competence. Working with a range of health and social care services. Reporting clinical incidents and managing clinical risk. Measuring and monitoring own performance and that of others. Working to targets. Interdisciplinary working. Investigating and responding to formal and informal complaints. Clinical audit. Teaching and presenting to colleagues, service users and carers. Project management. Implementing change. Qualifications

BSc or diploma in occupational therapy, physiotherapy or engineering. HCPC/AHCS/RCT registration. Post graduate training to M-level in managing patients with complex conditions, or the willingness to study at this level. Evidence of relevant continuing professional development. Member of relevant special interest group. Personal competencies, attitudes and qualities

Ability to respond positively to unpredictable work patterns and frequent interruptions. Ability to remain calm and professional with service users who may be emotionally and physically distressed, and with team members as and when they require support. Self-motivated and keen to develop self and team. Assertive, credible and proactive with strong problem solving skills. Disclosure and Barring Service Check
