An opportunity has arisen within the Pharmacy Department at the Southend site for a motivated and enthusiastic Senior Pharmacy Technician to develop a clinical service on our Critical Care wards as well as provide support to our pharmacists with patient nutrition. We are looking for a Band 6 Pharmacy Technician, registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council, to join our department. The post holder will actively be involved in leading and implementing a service to our women's and children's wards within the hospital. They will also contribute to a wide range of other pharmacy services including Dispensary services, Homecare, Education and Training, Medicine Management and Optimisation, and Trials when needed. The right applicant will be a dedicated, hardworking individual that works well in a team environment as well as under their own initiative. Attention to detail and organisational skills are essential. Current recognised ACT qualification or significant progress towards the qualification is essential to this role. Applicants without previous management experience will be considered. Main duties of the job

To assist managing the provision of a medicines management service to the critical care wards. To liaise with doctors and nurses regarding discrepancies with patients' medication to improve patient safety. To provide advice to patients and parents regarding medications. To deputise for the Principal Pharmacist at Trust meetings. To support other services within the pharmacy department including dispensary, procurement, ward technician services, and trials. About us

Experience

More than 1 year post-qualification experience within a hospital setting. Previous experience of working under pressure and to strict deadlines. Qualifications

Qualified ACT (nationally recognised qualification) or significant progress towards qualification. NHS leadership qualification. Medicines Management Qualification (CMMPT or equivalent). Disclosure and Barring Service Check

This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions. Salary: £37,338 to £44,962 a year (Per Annum, Pro Rata for Part Time)
