The Role
The Clinical Lead is a critically important role within the service, providing leadership, coordination and delivery of the prescribing and clinical elements within this integrated substance use service.
You will be a registered healthcare professional, that can prescribe for people needing substance misuse interventions. However, we are flexible about the discipline you have and the hours you work (i.e., you could be an independent prescriber (Nurse or Pharmacist), GP or Consultant).

Though you will:
Have a strong background and experience in providing clinical support, to ensure that we are consistently offering a high quality, clinically excellent, recovery-focused service to people with problematic substance use.
Provide excellent clinical leadership and clinical supervision to healthcare staff within the Via Cheshire West & Chester service, and support to GPs and Pharmacies involved in the provision of treatment services to people who use substances across the area.
Be an effective, engaged and active part of the local management and leadership team, contributing to the overall performance of the service to ensure that contractual output targets are achieved.
Be ready to be supported by Via's wider senior leadership and clinical department, for example to receive clinical supervision and support for complex cases where required.
Work well in changing circumstances, demonstrating excellent joint working and communication skills.

Via's Cheshire West & Chester service is an adult and young person treatment and recovery service which offers a range of pharmacological and psycho-social interventions to the community for support in relation to drug and/or alcohol use.
This is an established service that is well performing and highly functioning. It is CQC registered to provide a range of clinical interventions including blood borne virus interventions, opioid substitute treatment, community detoxification, harm reduction, other holistic health interventions and seated in a recovery-focused model.
The team actively supports individuals that are directly and indirectly affected by substance use, working with the local community to improve the health, wellbeing and functioning of residents, irrespective of circumstance.

Role Purpose
Provide high quality service delivery to people who use substances.
Contribute to the overall performance of designated services to ensure that contractual output targets and high clinical standards are achieved.
Provide clinical leadership to staff, and clinical supervision of clinicians, within the designated services and partnership agencies as required by service configuration.
Key duties and activities of the role:
Work as a registered healthcare professional, including as a prescriber across designated services.
Lead on the delivery of health and wellbeing interventions for designated services.
Assist in the development of systems, pathways and documents that promote holistic delivery of services to people with complex needs.
Have oversight of the clinical practices of all clinicians associated with the designated services, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, best practice guidance, professional and CQC standards.
Ensure appropriate clinical management of people who use the designated services, including those with complex needs.
Demonstrate leadership and undertake managerial responsibilities, ensuring effective use of clinical resources.
Responsible for the development and day-to-day coordination of all clinical interventions.
Promote and support organisational interface with various stakeholders.
Contribute to audits, ongoing monitoring and implementation of associated recommendations.
Provide competency assessment and training of staff, students and volunteers.
Undertake continuing professional development to maintain competence.
Provide advice, line management and clinical supervision to staff working in the designated services.
Person Specification
Experience
Essential
Minimum 5 years relevant post-qualifying experience.
Experience of providing clinical services for people who use substances.
Sound knowledge of clinical prescribing issues relating to problematic substance use.
Experience of audits, performance indicators, incident and complaints management processes.
Experience of contributing to the development of education, learning, and professional development.
Professional affiliation e.g. RCN, RCPsych, RCGP, RPS, CMHP, Addiction Professionals.
Experience of providing clinical supervision, line management and appraisals.
Good IT skills including use of Microsoft Office programs and Case Management Systems.
Understanding of Health and Social Care regulatory requirements.
Commitment to working in partnership with other professionals.
The ability to communicate effectively in different settings.
Great team working and interpersonal skills.
Qualifications
Essential
Healthcare professional registered with either GMC, NMC, HCPC or GPhC.
Qualified prescriber, able to prescribe independently.
Relevant post-graduate qualifications and completion of recognised qualifications.
