This is an exciting opportunity to lead clinical services while directly contributing to patient care by prescribing and managing ADHD medications. The successful candidate will clinically lead the new Oakdale ADHD prescribing service which has had successful mobilisation and launch period during 2024. We support clients to have quicker access to ADHD medications on behalf of the NHS, and self-funded clients.

You will have experience of clinical leadership and prescribing, ideally within an ADHD medication service or similar, ensuring that all relevant activities are carried out in a timely manner and to the standards required by the CQC.

This role is varied, and the post holder is expected to be involved in the development of a variety of Clinical and IT systems and processes to support the service delivery. You will help the service evolve by developing and implementing policies, procedures and regulatory requirements to ensure the service is safe and high quality.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be integral in the development of the ADHD medication service clinical model and pathways for both private and NHS patients. They will work collaboratively with the wider Oakdale team, chairing key meetings in relation to this. They will also carry out a proportion of clinical work within the team at an agreed level depending on the demands of the leadership function.

They will provide leadership for the clinical management, supervision, and delivery of ADHD medication services, ensuring high-quality patient care and implementing best practice guidelines to ensure that clinical standards are maintained.

The postholder is jointly responsible with the Neurodevelopmental Service Operational Lead for the delivery of high quality, responsive and accessible ADHD treatment services. This role will oversee the clinical governance, ethos, values, and service delivery across the pathway.

The post holder will work alongside highly experienced Clinical Leads in the existing neurodevelopmental assessment service, in addition to being part of Oakdale's wider Neurodevelopmental Service Leadership Team, to utilise their clinical expertise in shaping the development of treatment service models.

The post holder will also support training, recruitment, clinical audits, and lead case reviews, ensuring that the medication pathway operates effectively, safely, and in line with best practices.

Key Responsibilities: Clinical Leadership and Service Delivery: Provide strategic clinical leadership to the ADHD medication service, ensuring it operates in line with best practices, clinical guidelines, and organisational objectives. Ensure effective delivery of treatment for clients. Take responsibility for overseeing any cases where risk is assessed as high to ensure the right support is in place for clients. Oversee the management of clinical caseloads and ensure that clients receive timely and appropriate care. Provide leadership and support to a team of ADHD nurse prescribers, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement. Ensure adherence to relevant guidelines, evidence-based practices, and ethical standards. Work in partnership with the Neurodevelopmental Service Leadership team to provide key clinical input to service development and expansion initiatives. Build capability and capacity within the ADHD medication service clinical team. Act as a clinical advisor and mentor for junior staff and other healthcare professionals. Establish and sustain positive working relationships with all staff working within Oakdale's centres and remote services. Liaise with GPs, psychiatrists, psychologists, and other professionals to ensure integrated care for patients. Respond to queries from the wider Oakdale team in relation to the mobilisation of the ADHD medication Service. Line manage a number of direct reports within the ADHD medication service. Clinical Governance and Quality Assurance Ensure adherence to clinical governance frameworks, including risk management, safeguarding, and patient safety protocols. Monitor and audit the prescribing activity, prescription pads, and risk delivered across the prescribing service. Maintain accurate, up-to-date clinical documentation, ensuring compliance with data protection and confidentiality regulations. Lead on the development and implementation of clinical policies, procedures, and pathways specific to ADHD treatment and prescribing. Support leadership in planning and conducting clinical audits. Supervision and Support Supervise, mentor, guide and support clinical staff within the ADHD medication service. Oversee staff well-being and support professional development through regular appraisals. Support recruitment, training, and induction of new staff members within the service. Service Development and Improvement Drive the development and expansion of the neurodevelopmental service. Lead on initiatives to improve service efficiency, patient experience, and clinical outcomes. Client and Family engagement Ensure that patient-centred care is at the heart of the service. Multi-Disciplinary Team Leadership Lead complex case discussions and reviews. Training and Recruitment: Oversee the recruitment, induction, and retention of clinical staff within the ADHD medication service. Ethos and Values: Promote a compassionate, patient-centred, and inclusive culture throughout the ADHD medication service. Professional and Ethical Standards Adhere to ethical and professional standards as set by the NMC and the HCPC. Clinical duties Undertake medication appointments for children and adults as part of a multidisciplinary team.
