Clinical Lead Occupational Therapist - Children & Young People’s ARFID
Hywel Dda University Health Board is looking to appoint an innovative, proactive and passionate Occupational Therapist to join our new specialist service for children and young people with Avoidant Restrictive Food Intake Disorder (ARFID). This is an exciting opportunity to join this new service as the Clinical Lead for Occupational Therapy within this new and evolving area of practice. Main Duties of the Job
You will be expected to carry a complex caseload working within clinic, education and home environments, and will be required to liaise closely with the MDT within the ARFID service along with occupational therapists within other roles supporting Children and Young People within the Health Board. You will also be required to liaise with professional networks across Wales and the United Kingdom relating to your area of specialism as part of both service development, clinical governance, and to improve clinical practice. The post holder will also be expected to offer training and support to the wider Occupational Therapy Service for Children and Young People, supervise staff, and offer clinical placements to support the development of occupational therapy students within Wales. The post holder will be expected to travel across the Health Board footprint with mileage allowance payable and a lease car scheme is available. Qualifications and Knowledge
Degree/Diploma in Occupational Therapy Professional registration as recognized by HPC Evidence of attendance on specialist short courses and advanced training up to Master's level equivalent e.g. Sensory Integration, training in posture management, Bobath MSc or post-graduate diploma level training in relevant area. This could include Masters modules e.g. Sensory Integration Splinting and its application to children and young people Fieldwork Education Training Member of BAOT Leadership training Experience
Extensive post-graduate experience, including relevant experience with children & young people Managing a complex caseload Inter-professional and multi-agency team working Direct involvement with carers and families Negotiation of service development Evidence of supporting service compliance with clinical governance requirements Therapeutic handling and risk assessments in relation to care including complex children and young people Experience of appropriate delegation, supervision and oversight of staff Evidence of teaching/In Service Training Student supervision Key worker/Case Manager Negotiation of multidisciplinary working arrangements Leadership of clinical networks/clinical practice groups Language Skills
