Person specification Qualifications Essential criteria BSc in Audiology or equivalent qualifications MSc in Audiology, or equivalent experience Desirable criteria Science 'A'-levels (e.g., physics, mathematics, biology) Experience Essential criteria Extensive experience working as a paediatric audiologist, with experience of working with children with complex needs Experience of fitting babies and children with hearing aids, and the ability to deal tactfully and efficiently with patients and their carers The ability to work independently under own guidance and understand the reason for and maintain patient confidentiality NHS experience Able to work independently under own guidance Desirable criteria Experience in a lead role Skills Essential criteria Excellent interpersonal and communication skills Excellent organizer with ability to organize own work and direct that of others Possess advanced clinical reasoning skills Ability to write technical reports, logically and in good English Appropriate IT skills to enable effective use of equipment, computer databases, software, and applications to input and monitor patient information Understand professional ethics and their application in practice Desirable criteria Acquaintance with or ability to use British Sign Language (BSL) Other requirements Essential criteria Demonstrate an enthusiastic interest in Audiology Personality compatible with direct working with patients and their relatives on a daily basis and working with colleagues in a busy department Willingness to accept responsibility and the fortitude to complete assigned tasks Ability to maintain a good rapport with colleagues and staff at all levels and act as a role model Ability and willingness to learn new skills and, on occasion, attend training courses outside Hull Desirable criteria Willingness to undertake private study outside normal working hours. Evidence of an interest in audiological science and practice beyond the minimum requirements of the post.
