As the lead Physiotherapist in the neurology pathway, you will provide management, leadership, and clinical input into this pivotal service with a community first approach.

You will form part of the Dudley Rehabilitation Service leads managing a small team of Physiotherapists delivering rehabilitation in patient homes, outpatient, and in group settings.

Working with MDT is key, and we are fortunate to have Occupational therapists, Dieticians, Speech and Language therapists, Therapy Assistants Practitioners, Nurses, and Pharmacy as part of the wider team.

Main duties of the job

To be the lead Physiotherapist in neuro rehabilitation and jointly lead the neuro pathway within Dudley Rehabilitation Service. You will be an expert resource in the provision of evidence-based assessment and care for the management of neuro patients, working alongside other members of the multi-disciplinary team to provide an effective and efficient rehabilitation service.

To provide highly specialist physiotherapy in outpatient and domiciliary settings to patients who have had a neurological condition.

To provide specialist knowledge, training, advice, and support to colleagues, patients, and their carers about neuro rehabilitation.

To provide leadership, training, supervision, and appraisal for more junior staff.

To work collaboratively with the inpatient neuro services in Dudley to ensure a seamless transition of care. To be involved in evaluation and audits to help develop DRS and the Neurological services in Dudley.

To be an independent practitioner managing a caseload of patients including those with complex needs, carrying out assessments, therapy, and evaluation of interventions.

Qualifications & Education

Essential

BSc degree in physiotherapy Registered with HCPC

Desirable

Masters level qualification or modules or sufficient comparable experience of advance therapy practice

Experience

Experience of effectively managing complex patients with a variety of conditions such as frailty, falls, existing long-term conditions, and multiple comorbidities Comprehensive experience of multi-disciplinary working Experience of Student and junior staff supervision Leadership experience

Desirable

Experience of community working Involvement in research and/or clinical evaluation and audit

Communication & Relationship Skills

Essential

Excellent written and verbal communication skills Ability to build effective working relationships and work in a team

Networking skills with other healthcare professionals at a regional and national level

Advanced analytical and clinical skills to assess complex patients requiring therapy and to formulate and review evidence-based care plans Negotiation and problem-solving skills Ability to adapt to change and support others within the service to adapt. Planning & Organisational Skills

Essential

Ability to manage large, busy, and complex caseload and experience of service delivery in a variety of different settings. Awareness of standards of record keeping. Good knowledge and application of clinical governance issues

Experience of using patient information computer systems. To be fully IT literate, including accurate keyboard, word processing, and data inputting skills

Desirable

Ability to engage in the safe moving and handling practices with patients and equipment
