HMP Hull is looking for a Mental Health Nurse to provide mental health care to patients for the Wellbeing Unit. In partnership with the Prison Service, we provide an enhanced level of care to those residents at HMP Hull and the wider male population within the secure estate in Yorkshire and Humber. The Wellbeing Unit:

Offers residents with capacity urgent assessment and treatment, intervention and medication to stabilise their mental health and promote recovery. Establishes pathways with regional secure units to ensure safe transfer and remission to and from secure services when appropriate. Main duties of the job

You will be a Registered Mental Health Nurse. This role will be responsible for assessment and caseload management of those referred to the Wellbeing Unit. You will carry out comprehensive assessments, confidently communicate treatment options and initiate supportive care plans, providing evidence-based interventions alongside the wider multi-disciplinary team. You will be committed to a person-centered approach to your work and have the ability to prioritise and work flexibly. Tees Esk and Wear Valleys NHS Foundation Trust (TEWV) provides mental health and learning disability services in partnership with Rethink Mental Illness and Humber Teaching NHS Foundation Trust (HTFT) in 2 prisons in the East Riding of Yorkshire. As part of the new Mental Health contract awarded to TEWV Health & Justice Services in 2022, we are expanding the service provision across HMP Hull and HMP Humber. HMP Hull is a Category B prison and the reception prison for the East Riding area. The establishment serves all courts in the region and accepts prisoners on remand or sentenced by the courts. The predominant population is made up of remand prisoners in the early days of custody whilst engaging in the court processes. Interested in clinical development? Qualification

RNMH/RNLD or registered practitioner, current professional registration with NMC or relevant professional body. Evidence of Continuing Professional Development. MIP, FLIP, ENB 998 Teaching & Assessing in Clinical Practice or City & Guilds 730 Teaching in Adult Education (within agreed timescales). Clinical Supervisor (within agreed timescales). 18 months post qualifying experience including sign off of appropriate preceptorship or competency framework. Recognised sign-off mentor or must be achieved within agreed timescale. Qualified practitioner in e.g. CBT, DBT, PSI, dual diagnosis etc. (within agreed timescale). Non-medical Prescriber (within agreed timescale). Key skills in literacy, numeracy and ITQ level 2 (or equivalent). Post-graduate qualification in a relevant area. Experience

Significant experience working with people with mental ill health in a community setting. A good understanding of the Offender Health pathway. Working collaboratively with service users and their families/carers. Working in a multi-disciplinary team. Quality improvement activities. Leadership or management experience. Experience in a secure environment. Experience of providing clinical supervision. Experience of mentoring students on practice placement. Skills

Provide leadership and monitor, co-ordinate and prioritise the activities of a team. Communicate complex and sensitive information effectively to patients, carers/families and all members of the multidisciplinary team. Work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team and undertake care co-ordinator responsibilities. Provide effective clinical supervision, teaching, training and assessing in clinical practice. Write reports. Use multimedia materials for presentations in professional settings. Use approved breakaway techniques. Competency in venepuncture and ECGs. Disclosure and Barring Service Check
