A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Band 8a Clinical Matron to join our CAMHS acute services, working with in our inpatient unit Sowenna and our MARRS team that offer holistic crisis support to young people.

Main duties of the job

The Clinical Matron for the CAMHS Acute Care Pathway provides strategic and professional leadership, working collaboratively with the acute senior leadership team across the CAMHS Tier 4 in-patient unit and Acute Care Pathway.

This pivotal role ensures the delivery of high-quality, evidence-based clinical care, operational efficiency, and service excellence, while fostering collaborative working relationships with multidisciplinary teams, stakeholders, system partners, south west provider collaborative and commissioners. Reporting to the Head of Service for CAMHS Acute Care, the Clinical Matron has direct line management responsibility for managers within Acute and inpatient pathways. They will deliver visible, accessible, and authoritative leadership across inpatient and acute community services. They lead on service development, cultivating a philosophy of care that is grounded in best practice and evidence, and ensuring continuous improvement and innovation whilst delivering the NHS matron Charter. The Clinical Matron actively involves patients and carers in the design, delivery, and evaluation of services to maintain relevance and responsiveness to their needs.

Education and qualifications

Essential

Registered Healthcare Professional either NMC or HCPC registration Degree or equivalent level of education in relevant profession Post registration courses / equivalent level of experience

Desirable

Management qualification Education / teaching certificate

Experience, Knowledge and abilities

Essential

Evidence of experience within operational management in a hospital setting in a senior Nurse/Midwife/AHP role Experience of working within a Mental Health Inpatient environment or experience of supporting children with complex mental health needs Excellent knowledge of current policy, legislation and guidance (including evidence base) relevant to the provision of children's in-patient services and therapy. Understanding of legal and ethical frameworks relating to children and young people

Skills and Aptitude

Leadership skills - excellent leadership and influencing skills with the ability to enthuse, motivate and involve individuals and teams
