We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated nurse with good knowledge and understanding of the management of childhood diabetes and who is committed to working with and supporting children, young people, and their families. With one of the largest services for children and young people with diabetes in the South East Coast and London network, we can offer you a rewarding, flexible, and supportive role building long-term professional relationships with CYP and their families. We are on an exciting improvement journey and can offer you a rewarding and supported role with our care at East Kent Hospitals. We value diversity in our workforce and encourage candidates from all backgrounds to apply. If you believe there may be any barriers to your consideration of this role, we would encourage you to contact us for a further discussion. Informal enquiries and visits are welcome and encouraged. For candidates considering developing their career within the specialty and not currently meeting the outlined criteria, appointment to a training post will be considered. Appointment will be at Band 6 with progression to Band 7 following completion of specialist training and supervision. Main duties of the job The Clinical Nurse Specialist will manage a designated clinical judgment and autonomous decision-making about the specialist nursing care and management of children and young people with diabetes. Support key partners within both the community and acute settings and work collaboratively and effectively with all other healthcare professionals, those allied to health, and those in the third sector services. Provide leadership and direct line-management for a small team of staff supporting them to care for a caseload of children and young people. Facilitate teamwork across the multidisciplinary team to deliver a high standard diabetes service to children, adolescents, families, and carers. Our vision is 'great healthcare from great people'. Everything we do is guided by our values: 'People feel cared for, safe, respected and confident that we are making a difference'. We have a new way of working at East Kent Hospitals, called 'We care'. It's about empowering frontline staff to lead improvements day-to-day. Applications for this role should be written by the applicant. If artificial intelligence (AI) programmes are used, then the application may be rejected due to this document being an important part of the assessment process. This does not prevent applicants seeking appropriate support with applications should they need to for the purposes of any declared disability.
