Job summary We are recruiting for Clinical Nurse Specialist - Hospital at Night Coordinators who share our vision to be trusted to provide consistently outstanding care and exemplary service to our patients. You will be responsible for expert, safe, effective triage and coordination of all clinical tasks across all specialities and divisions, ensuring patients receive the right care at the right time securing positive clinical outcomes and increased efficiency. The HAN coordinators will also be expected to assess and manage acutely unwell and deteriorating patients and take part in clinical audit, education and present at appropriate. Main duties of the job Expert clinical triage and prioritisation of key clinical tasks Effective and timely communication with teams across all specialities and divisions Clinical assessment and management of acutely deteriorating patients Develop the skills of generalist nursing staff and other members of the MDT to provide high standards of care for the deteriorating patient Provide specialist support and advice to all stakeholders ensuring positive outcomes for patients Communicate highly sensitive and complex information in dynamic and complex environments Utilisation of software and systems to coordinate activity seamlessly Clinical audit, evaluation of data and implementation of improvement projects and practices Responding to calls made as per Martha's Rule Key member of emergency response team Close liaison with Critical Care Unit team, coordination of Critical Care discharges to ensure safe transfer to ward level care About us At East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust, we are proud of the range of general and specialist services we provide and our 6,000 or so dedicated staff ensure our patients get the best care. Qualifications / Training Essential Undergraduate Degree or equivalent professional qualification Master's level qualification, or equivalent experience Recognised post-graduate qualification relating to critical care, clinical care related to the deteriorating patient specialty or working towards with relevant experience ILS provider Evidence of continued professional development Desirable Training or Education qualification ALS provider Coaching qualification Leadership Qualification ALS/APLS Instructor status APLS provider Independent & Supplementary Prescribing Previous Experience Essential Experience in providing expert clinical care, using advanced clinical judgment in the management of the deteriorating patient and resuscitation care needs Experience in an acute care service setting Experience in supporting a trust wide educational portfolio that supports all health care professionals, including relevant training to the deteriorating patient and resuscitation skills requirements. Experience of leading change projects Experience of supporting nursing, allied health care professional and medical workforce teams in the safe management of the deteriorating patient Experience and high confidence of working with minimal supervision Experience of driving strategic portfolios to improve the quality of patient care Ability to support a range of staff and quality/ clinical services /professional activity Experience in setting objectives and performance management and holding people to account. Experience in participating in complex, sensitive and sometimes difficult conversations Desirable Experience in teaching on resuscitation courses Experience of working in the community or liaising with community staff Experience of presenting at conference and writing for publication Skills Essential Clinical leadership skills, ability to motivate and develop others Clinical skills in advanced clinical assessment and treatment planning Immediate resuscitation provider skills Drive & enthusiasm for quality improvement with a high degree of personal motivation Decision making skills Effective role model Clinical expert/reflective practitioner Ability to think creatively to help identify innovative solutions to problems Computer skills Presentation skills Desirable Advanced resuscitation provider skills Ability to develop effective local & national networks Coaching skills Knowledge Essential Excellent understanding of principles and evidence based practice of management the acutely unwell and deteriorating in patient. Excellent knowledge of Resuscitation Council UK provider standards An understanding and experience of staff management and organisational development Knowledge and skills in developing educational packages Knowledge of the components of quality domains, quality governance, risk management and assurance function; current NHS national policies, standards, requirements and directions that relate to measuring and improving the quality and safety of patient care. Desirable Knowledge of Human Factors systems thinking principles Other requirements Essential Required to travel between hospital sites Experience and evidence of engagement around the equality, diversity and inclusion agenda.
