We are currently looking for people with excellent assessment and communication skills who perform well under pressure. The role of the Mental Health professional in ED is a fast-paced and dynamic role. The team provides 24/7 input into the Emergency Department delivering high calibre assessments, formulations, and care plans for individuals. We are a PLAN accredited service and the core24 team are part of the well-established wider Liaison Psychiatry service at Peterborough City Hospital. Main duties of the job As part of the Liaison Psychiatry Service, the post-holder will contribute to the multi-disciplinary clinical assessment and management of patients referred to the service in collaboration with other team members. Providing and undertaking timely biopsychosocial assessments and risk management plans in accordance with CPFT's Clinical Risk Assessment and Management policy for adults presenting to the Acute Trust with mental health problems. This role is a permanent, full-time vacancy for an enthusiastic and motivated Clinical Nurse Specialist / Mental Health Professional wanting to join the established liaison psychiatry emergency department team. The liaison psychiatry service is highly regarded nationally and is accredited through the Psychiatric Liaison Accreditation Network (PLAN). The service aims to offer exceptional standards of care to all patients attending Peterborough City Hospital experiencing a comorbid mental health issue. An opportunity has arisen to recruit a dynamic CNS / MHP on a permanent contract who will work hour shifts across a 24/7 rota. Job responsibilities To assist in the delivery of a high-quality Liaison Psychiatry service within Peterborough City Hospital in keeping with the visions and values of the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust. Providing and undertaking timely biopsychosocial assessments and risk management plans in accordance with CPFT's Clinical Risk Assessment and Management policy for adults presenting to the Emergency Department with mental health problems. Promoting a safe and effective service throughout the Emergency Department; this will be through training and giving expert advice and support to nursing and medical teams within the Emergency Department. Maintaining a visible, professional presence where patients, carers, and staff can turn for assistance, advice, and support. To participate in and promote close links with community mental health teams and other agencies to develop effective care plans. Person Specification Education/Qualifications Registered Mental Health Nurse or equivalent professional registration. Evidence of relevant post-registration training and development. Desirable Independent and supplementary Prescriber. Recognised training qualification. Mentor and mentorship training or willingness to complete. Experience Essential Significant post-registration experience in working with people with mental health needs. Community and in-patient experience in mental health services. Considerable experience in the assessment and management of clinical risk. Experience in the planning and delivery of training and practice developments to staff. Experience of effective collaborative working. Evidence of ability to drive for results. Evidence of experience in service evaluation and improvements. Evidence of Interdisciplinary / multi-agency working experience. Desirable Clinical audits and research. Experience of working in Liaison Psychiatry. Specialist knowledge of psycho-social interventions and their appropriate use. Specialist knowledge of medication and the monitoring of its effect. Up-to-date knowledge of appropriate assessment scales. Good knowledge of the policies and guidelines pertinent to the planning and delivery of care to adults with mental health needs. Awareness of the impact of the health economies on service planning and delivery. Knowledge of the recovery principles and its application to adults. Desirable Knowledge of practical application and use of psychological therapies. Knowledge of improvement models and applications. Physical Requirements Essential Ability to foster good interagency working. Ability to represent the team / service / Trust in a professional manner.
