An exciting 12-month fixed term / secondment opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated, enthusiastic and experienced individual to join our well-established Oncology team at Royal Papworth Hospital. We are an internationally renowned tertiary referral centre for Lung cancer and mesothelioma and are undertaking an exciting transformation program to improve our cancer pathways, to support improved clinical outcomes and experience for our patients. Main duties of the job

The CNS will be the key contact for patients during their diagnostic investigations and in the multi-disciplinary team (MDT) meetings and clinic settings. Working within a CNS team and MDT, including chest physicians, oncologists, surgeons, pathologists, radiologists, AHPs and administrative support, you will provide comprehensive care to patients with a suspected or confirmed cancer diagnosis. Offering clinical information, expert symptom management advice and emotional support to patients, relatives and carers. Job responsibilities

Qualifications

First level degree in related subject, or evidence of working towards Advanced Clinical Assessment qualification or willing to work towards Non-medical prescribing qualification or willing to work towards Experience

Prior relevant nursing experience at Band 6 or Band 7 (oncology, thoracic surgery, respiratory, palliative care) Effectively co-ordinates own workload Friendly and supportive with proven ability to work as part of a team. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Flexible approach to working hours and practices Knowledge of thoracic oncology conditions, diagnostic tests and treatment options.
