The Clinical Operational Manager is a critical role in leading nursing and operational staff to deliver service excellence whilst supporting donor loyalty. Under the direction of the Senior Operations Manager, the post holder will provide operational leadership, expert clinical advice and management support for the North/South Wales Blood Collections staff. They will be responsible for leading excellent service provision to support the ongoing delivery and development of the North/South Wales blood collections programme, aligning the service with the wider Welsh Blood Service and Velindre NHS Trust key objectives. Main duties of the job

The Clinical Operational Manager will work collaboratively with the Senior Operations Managers and wider Operational Delivery team to direct blood collections workforce plans, providing managerial support and deputising for the Senior Operations Manager as required. They will develop and build on the clinical and business programmes, ensuring service delivery meets operational and clinical performance objectives and regulatory requirements. The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply. About us

Job responsibilities

The post holder will provide expert clinical advice and leadership for the North/South Wales collection teams and will be the local lead on clinical risk management, patient/donor safety and clinical governance issues in collaboration with the Head of Nursing and the Clinical Governance team. The role will be based in either Wrexham office or Talbot Green HQ; however, the post holder will be required to routinely travel to multiple collection clinics across the North/South Wales area. The post holder will be required to travel to South/North Wales sites as required. Hours will be worked across a seven-day working week, with on-call commitments. Person Specification

Qualifications and/or Knowledge

Educated to MSc level or equivalent experience Evidence of ongoing personal development Previously NMC registered or Previously Registered Health care professional Understanding of the role the Welsh Blood Service plays in the wider community Knowledge and understanding of the blood/component process Current registration with NMC or HCPC but have the ability to maintain own registration Experience

Extensive experience of managing registered and non-registered staff in a public healthcare role Extensive clinical experience Experience of working within a customer services environment Experience of supervising/managing a large team Experienced in dealing with sensitive and confidential matters Experience of working in a challenging and busy environment Experience of working as a change agent or instrumental in a change programme Experience of working with people at all levels Clinical experience of working in the blood transfusion services Aptitude and Abilities

Excellent communication, written and numeracy skills. Advanced keyboard/IT skills Analytical skills to interpret complex data Organisational and planning skills Ability to speak Welsh Values/Other
