Lead on dynamic, holistic, and evidence-based assessments to tailor quality, evidence-based psychological interventions for children with intellectual disabilities and their families. Contribute to multi-professional assessment and formulation of the needs of the child and their family. Work closely with families and the education and social care systems to empower them to help the child/young person reach their potential. Assess and manage risk with a specialist understanding of how neurodivergence and intellectual disability contribute to and complicate presentations. Ensure the systematic provision of a high-quality specialist psychology service to clients with complex mental health problems, including severe, enduring, and multiple disorders, and challenging behaviour. Offer consultation and supervision, and support the work of other service staff and psychology clinical team members providing psychologically based care and treatment, according to expertise. Provide training placements for Doctoral Trainee psychologists and a range of qualified and unqualified staff across mental health areas, as agreed. Current registration with the HCPC as a Clinical/Counselling Psychologist. Experience

Skills in the use of complex methods of psychological assessment, intervention, and management frequently requiring sustained and intense concentration. Desirable criteria

Knowledge of the theory and practice of specialised psychological therapies in specific difficult-to-treat groups.
