This is an exciting opportunity to work as part of our Outstanding Team in the Children's Community Specialist Nursing Service caring for children across Cambridgeshire.

We are looking for a Clinical Practice Educator to join our dynamic team, that covers the whole of Cambridgeshire delivering the highest quality care to make a difference to children and young people requiring nursing care in their communities. Children benefit from the expertise of the hospital in the comfort and safety of their own environment, and you will have the opportunity to lead on education in the service.

We are looking for a passionate paediatric nurse who is enthusiastic about individual and service development, and motivated by providing the highest quality of care to our families.

You will be an experienced mentor/educator, experience of community work would be an advantage as well as experience, knowledge and understanding of working alongside other agencies and professionals, with excellent communication skills.

This role will give you the opportunity to assist with the development of Community Nursing within Cambridgeshire, as well as being supported in your own personal development.

Main duties of the job

The post will be essential to leading on the training and development need of the Children's Community Specialist Nursing Service, ensuring the needs of the patients and families are placed at the centre of care delivery, providing a visible presence within the clinical area and achieving Trust and national standards for clinical quality, safety and patient knowledge and experience.

Job responsibilities

In conjunction with other senior leadership and clinical staff, be responsible for co-ordinating and implementing educational development for clinical staff within the Children's Community Specialist Nursing Service. Develop training programmes across the service taking into account the skill mix and needs of the individual services. Act as a clinical advisor to the Clinical Nurse Lead and or Service Lead as required. In conjunction with the leadership team and with national guidance implement and evaluate programmes of education and training to ensure an appropriate level of knowledge and skills are achieved. To promote and maintain standards of care in accordance with the service, and Trust SOPs and policies. Co-ordinate with other senior leadership and clinician posts, strategic views on educational planning to address service need development. Work autonomously and be responsible for supporting new and existing members of the clinical team to develop their skills, knowledge, competence and confidence in practice. Develop clinical practice through current research and evidenced-based practice. Promoting a learning environment that optimizes clinical development and facilitates a best-practice approach to evidence-based patient care. Leading, managing and supporting the clinical education of clinical teams in the service. Developing, co-ordinating and reviewing audit of clinical practice. Clinically supervising, assessing and managing pre and post reg students, and supporting other members of the team to do the same. Contributing to education within the Service as required. Provides specialist education and development for clinical staff and colleagues through education programmes, individual development programmes and clinical supervision. Provide clinical leadership and act as a role model, to promote understanding, maintain standards of professionalism and contribute to the development of clinical practice in the Children's Community Specialist Nursing Service. To act as an expert specialist practitioner. In collaboration with the multi-disciplinary team, promote improvement and the effective management of change by undertaking and acting on audits and other reviews to implement and agree new approaches to raise and maintain quality of care. Provide clinical skills, educational support and direction to new and existing staff and learners to enable the ongoing delivery of high quality care to our babies, children, young people, and their families.

Experience working with children and young people with a range of medical conditions, including complex/specialist conditions Experience of teaching others and mentoring students Demonstrates experience of facilitating training courses/workshops to a range of clinicians and students
