Dorset HealthCare University NHS Foundation Trust We welcome applications from enthusiastic clinical/counselling psychologists or psychotherapists (including art psychotherapists), with a special interest in working with older people. Whilst this post is suitable for a band 8A, we would happily support the career development of a band 7 via a preceptorship programme.

The role is diverse and allows you a chance to develop your own individual therapy skills as well as your neuropsychological assessment skills, if that is an area of interest. You will have opportunities to continue with your professional development, help improve services, and work with a range of skilled professionals. You will be a member of, and supported by, the Older People's Psychology team, which is a friendly team of psychologists and art psychotherapists.

You will work across the Bridport and Weymouth teams.

Please see attached the Band 7 and Band 8a specific Job Description and Person Specification to ensure that you meet the requirements for this role.

Main duties of the job As a clinical psychologist/psychotherapist, you will provide highly specialist psychological assessments and interventions to service users in our Community Mental Health Teams (CMHTs). As part of a multi-disciplinary team, you will work to increase psychological thinking, provide formulations and offer consultation to support colleagues to better understand and manage older adults with mental health problems. Duties will also include working with families and carers as well as allied care agencies.

You will manage a complex caseload autonomously and make decisions regarding treatment options considering evidence base and various therapeutic models. You will monitor clinical progress through regular reviews of psychological treatment as well as outcome measures.

In line with experience and role development plans, you will provide supervision and mentorship to junior clinicians and trainees, contributing to their professional development and enhancing the treatment they offer.

There are opportunities to contribute to service development as well as advancing clinical leadership skills.

Employment in this post requires an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, which the Trust will cover the cost of. Applicants who subscribe to the DBS update service are able to present a valid DBS certificate instead of requiring a new check.
