We are seeking a compassionate, innovative, and enthusiastic Band 8a Clinical Psychologist to join our
'Outstanding'
community Children's and Young People's Specialist services. You would be joining a friendly and supportive highly specialist multidisciplinary team and would be involved in shaping psychological provision within our Neurodevelopmental Service (NDS). Full time hours (37.5 hours), or a minimum of 30 hours per week, is available and will be across Norfolk; including Kings Lynn and Norwich. Bases are negotiable and flexible working is supported and includes agile/home working where relevant. The NDS offers diagnostic assessment and a range of post diagnostic workshops to support the lives of children and young people who have suspected Neurodevelopmental disorders such as Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). This is a fixed term post for 12 months, or secondment with line manager agreement. Main duties of the job
Your role will be varied and will include a range of assessment, formulation, post diagnostic group-based intervention and service development. This will include direct and indirect work with the children and young people that we support, as well as their families and the professional networks involved in their care. Your role will include bringing a psychologically informed perspective through consultation to the clinical team and external agencies. There will be opportunities to develop leadership skills and to contribute to the supervision, teaching and training of psychological practitioners and other professionals within the team. You will utilise your research skills for audit, policy and service development, and dissemination of appropriate research evidence. Further involvement in research can also be supported where appropriate to the needs of the service. To take the lead, within a multi-disciplinary team, on the assessment, formulation and intervention planning and delivery, for children and young people with suspected Neurodevelopmental Disorders (ADHD/ASD). To contribute towards diagnostic decisions, alongside the multi-disciplinary team. To develop psychological formulations of presenting problems or situations that integrate information from assessments within a coherent framework that draws upon psychological theory and evidence, and which incorporates interpersonal, societal, cultural, and biological factors. To develop and implement pre and post diagnostic interventions for the child, young person, or their family. The communication of highly complex information and diagnostic outcomes to parents/carers, young people, and other professionals in a sensitive manner. To produce reports in a timely manner, that convey the key findings of psychological assessment, diagnostic assessment and formulation in a way that does justice to the complexity of the problems described, but that are understandable to the recipients of the reports, including children/young people, and referrers. The organise and deliver teaching and training to professionals, clients and carers on issues related to child development and Neurodiversity. The post holder will be expected to plan their workload, including prioritising cases in terms of urgency and risk. The post demands periods of concentrated effort both mental (assessment, intervention, and written communication) and physical (administration of psychometric/standardised assessments and report writing). To manage the workloads of Band 7, trainee, and assistant clinical psychologists, within the framework of the team's policies and procedures. The post holder will use computerised systems for record keeping and reference systems. The post holder will be required to travel between a range of appointment venues in both urban and rural locations. Qualifications
Graduate membership of BPS. Post-graduate doctorate in relevant Psychology field, accredited by the BPS. Training in the supervision of clinical psychologists. Registration or application to register with Health and Care Professions Council. Other related academic qualifications to master's or Doctorate level. Application for Chartered status made to British Psychological Society. Experience
Working with client group either during or prior to training. Further training within designated specialty. Clinical supervision training for Doctoral trainees. Record of having published in peer reviewed or academic or professional journals and/or books. Skills, Abilities and Knowledge
High level (doctoral) skills in: communication; teaching; clinical supervision; clinical analysis and formulation and research methodology. An identified area of specialist knowledge within designated specialty. Knowledge of relevant legislation and implications for clinical practice. Ability to manage own work timetable. Ability to participate in supervision. Ability to resolve difficult interpersonal situations. Ability to manage stress generated by work/work environment. Specialised training/knowledge.
