Job summary We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Paediatric Clinical Psychologist to join our Major Trauma Centre at St George's Hospital. This role provides an opportunity to work with children and young people with serious and life-changing injuries, their families, and staff members working within the Major Trauma service. The post holder will have the opportunity to join a multidisciplinary team where psychology is valued and well established. Alongside an active clinical role, the post holder will have opportunities to shape and develop psychological care pathways within the Major Trauma Centre as part of the Integrated Psychological Model of Care pilot. Main duties of the job The post holder will offer specialist psychological support to children and young people who are under the care of the Major Trauma Centre, ensuring a timely and equitable response to new referrals, robust screening of distress, and the chance to offer specialist psychological intervention where appropriate. There are many opportunities, alongside the inpatient and outpatient work for staff teaching, training, and consultation. The majority of the face-to-face clinical work takes place on the surgical wards and in paediatric intensive care. There are opportunities to work creatively to deliver effective clinical psychology interventions. Person Specification Experience Essential Experience of specialist psychological assessment and treatment of clients across the full range of care settings, including outpatient, community, primary care, and inpatient settings. Experience of working with a wide variety of client groups, across the whole life course presenting problems that reflect the full range of clinical severity including maintaining a high degree of professionalism in the face of highly emotive and distressing problems. Experience of psychological work with people with physical health problems. Experience in acute hospital inpatient settings. Desirable Experience of teaching, training, and/or supervision. Experience of the application of clinical health psychology in different cultural contexts. Qualifications Essential Doctoral level training in clinical psychology (or equivalent). Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). Evidence of continuing professional development. Formal training in supervision of trainee applied psychologists and related personnel. Desirable Pre-qualification training and qualifications in research methodology, staff training, and/or other fields of applied psychology. Membership of the British Psychological Society / Division of Clinical Psychology / Faculty of Clinical Health Psychology.
