We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Clinical Psychologist to join the Dorset Pain Management Service. We are happy to consider newly qualified Clinical Psychologists on a Band 7 developmental post. The successful candidate will ideally have experience of working with patients with long term conditions, but if not, please do get in touch anyway as full training and support will be provided. The Psychologist will be expected to be accountable and responsible for the direct delivery of psychological services to patients with chronic pain. He/she will be skilled in assessment, formulation, and in the delivery of appropriate highly specialised programmes of care. Applications from candidates that require current Skilled worker sponsorship to work in the UK are unfortunately ineligible to apply for this position. Main duties of the job

The post holder will be part of the Dorset Pain Management Service and will provide evidence-based psychological interventions. They will work with clients who have a range of complex chronic pain-related problems for which psychological intervention is demonstrated to be clinically effective. Provide advice and consultation on clients' psychological care to non-psychologist colleagues and to other, nonprofessional carers, working under supervision within professional guidelines and the overall framework of the team's policies and procedures. To supervise and support the psychological assessment and therapy provided by other clinical members of teams who provide psychologically based care and treatment if required. Employment in this post requires an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, which the Trust will cover the cost of. Applicants who subscribe to the DBS update service are able to present a valid DBS certificate instead of requiring a new check. About us

Qualifications

Appropriate Postgraduate qualification in Clinical Psychology Eligibility for Chartered Status with the British Psychological Society Post-doctoral training in one or more additional specialised areas of psychological practice Training in I.T packages (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) Job specific experience

Previous experience of specialist psychological assessment and treatment of adults with a wide range of Physical and Mental health problems, of varying severity and complexity Experience of working with a wide variety of client groups, across the whole life course, presenting problems that reflect the full range of clinical severity including maintaining a high degree of professionalism in the face of emotive and distressing problems and verbal and physical abuse Experience of multi-disciplinary working Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills enabling change in clients where there may be resistance to change Evidence of continuing professional development as recommended by the BPS Managerial- supervisory experience

Experience of teaching, training and/or professional and clinical supervision with a multi-agency setting Personal Qualities/Attributes
